Please... advice needed on Amitriptilyne?!

Question: Please!.!.!. advice needed on Amitriptilyne!?
I am prescribed 20mg of this drug but it seems I need 30-40mg in order to sleep!. It is prescribed to me for sleeping!. I went and saw my doctor and he said to not take more than 20mg becuase I am also taking Prozsc 20mg daily but I am still taking 30-40 mg of this drug because the higher dosage helps me fall asleep better and quicker!. How can I convince my doctor to give me the higher dose!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just tell him straight that you think you need more!. If he says this is a bad idea maybe you could try another medication to help you sleep, or find a drug that encompasses the anti depression factors of the prozac with a sedative!.

He should be able to raise your dose as 20mg is quite a low dose of the drug!. If he says no he will give you an explanation though, it maybe something to do with the interaction with the prozac!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The reason you have been prescribed such a low dosage, I would assume is your age!. It is contraindicated to give any more than 20mg to teenagers!. As for fluoxetine, well you can't have been taking it very long as that's the starting dosage!.

They're not contraindicated together, but one of the side effects of fluoxetine is that it can, ironically, cause sleep disturbance!.

I reckon the reason you're not allowed more is your age!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The problem is that with older drugs like that, they affect other things and in this case I think it can cause liver damage if the blood concentration is too high!. And if you cannot be trusted to take your medicine at the correct dosage then he has no reason to trust you at any other dosage!. Once you run out and have NONE then you will totally regret taking it all and having to wait two weeks to get more!. Your body will have pains in it, and your brain will short circuit from the withdrawl from it, and you will be miserable!. They don't _call_ it withdrawl since it is an antidepressant (yes, you are taking two antidepressants, but they act differently) those are the symptoms, withdrawl!. When that happens, remember I told you so!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

DO NOT TAKE MORE THAT PRESCRIBED!. You are becoming addicted to it!.
CAN I ASK YOU A QUESTION, ARE YOU TAKING THESE FOR DEPRESSION!. E-mail me if you are please!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

these medicines are highly addictive!. you`re convincing yourself that you need to take that amount to sleep!. same as anything else its a quick fix and the more dependant you become on that fix the more worked up you get if you believe you`re not getting enough and need more!. your doctor knows what he is talking about but if you haven`t tried it already maybe you can ask to be referred for counselling to get to the route of the problem!. i don`t let myself get annoyed when i can`t sleep and try to unwind a bit before bed, i put a relaxation cd on if i can`t sleep because even if i haven`t fallen completely asleep by the end of it, my bodies been in a much more relaxed state and i feel refreshed!.i have personal experience of the danger of prescription drugs and have also worked in addiction services, so i do know what i`m talking about!. please try to get additional support from a friend you trust, or a support organisation before you find your life controlled by these drugs!. i`d be glad to talk to you about this if you want any advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
