Probably not very long!. Either she's just really in the habit of not eating healthily, or she could have anorexia, which is a very serious mental illness and is also the most fatal of all mental illnesses, which is something a psychiatrist told me!. If SHE won't voluntarily get help, tell her parents, who probably will, or go STRAIGHT to the doctor, or make her go!. She will probably be murderously angry if she does have anorexia, because anorexics want to stay thin and would rather die than get help, but in getting help for her, you'll save her life, and her anger will pass with time!.

Did she need to lose weight in the first place!? If not, I don't see why people are suggesting you put her on a "healthy diet"!. If she didn't need to, she's in serious trouble, and if she DID need to, this isn't a good way to lose weight!. Exercise and eating no junk food is best!.

How old is she!? If she lives on her own, it'll be harder to get help for her than if she lived with her parents, who made her get help!.

I know it sounds REALLY harsh to ask her to get help against her own free will, but anorexics can't think logically!. All they care about is being thin, and they'll never be thin enough until they're dead!. About what that person said, "Be encouraging, not condemning", it won't SEEM encouraging to force her into help, but she needs it!. In getting help for her, you will be encouraging her!. Once she is GETTING help, and in the process of getting better, when she is suffering so much from the thought of gaining weight, that is when she'll need most encouragement, love, and support!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Keep trying to tell adults and doctors, someone will listen as you don't want this getting anymore out of hand than what it already is!.
Be there for your cousin, and remember this is about her need to control something in her life thats out of control and nothing to do with food, diet or weight!.
There are a couple of websites such as mirror mirror which are able to tell you more on how to deal with eating disorders!.
Find someone to support you and is there for youWww@Answer-Health@Com

not sure how old the cousin is, but if she is a teen this could be temporary, attention getter, phase and go away in a few weeks!. however, if you are truly concerned start saying things in front of her to other people like "gees, what are you doing trying to starve yourself!?" and others may begin to notice also and someone that they will take seriously like her parents may be able to get help for her in time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on how big she is to start with, how well she disguises is (eg baggy clothes etc) and what her metabolism is like!. I've barely eaten for a fortnight for various reasons and I haven't lost any weight at all!. Some people in that time would drop about 6lb!. (Lucky them!.!.!.!.!.!.)

I'd say it will be several months before she starts looking scarily thin (assuming she's of normal weight to start with)!. Less if she's already thin to start with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to tell them that she is anorexic!. Adults sometimes don't want to see what is right in front of them!. Do not wait a few months untill someone notices!. By then, it will be harder for her to stop!. Also, anorexia can really damage your heart and cause major health issues!. If you do not consume enough food (calories, protein, vitamins, minerals, carbs), your body starts feeding off of itself!. Your fat will go, yes, but also brain tissue and muscle tissue!. Your bones will be brittle and you won't be able to move!. You'll screw up your internal organs-your liver and pancreas especially!.
It is important that you keep telling adults until someone believes you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

she should not be feeling too well in herself already!. It should be noticeable to anyone who is looking!. Try to persuade her to talk to someone if you think this is an eating disorder brewing!. Her hair will fall out, nails go thin and she will damage her internal organs for lack of proper nutrients and vitamins if she remains on a poor diet!. Why not try getting her some diets sheets e!.g from Weight watchers or similar online, have a look at what she needs to eat to remain helthy but can lose weight as well!. Be supportive not condemning!.
Good luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

Oh geeze! I'm sorry I completely read it wrong!
Sorry I'm tired!. Anyways yeah people won't take you seriously for a good while!. But Something like this her parnets should be concernd unless they felt other wise!.
Maybe She's just telling you that to get attention!.
and acting on it only around you and her friends!.
thats what I'm thinking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Her family should be taking you serious if they do not you need to talk to them, if your cousin wont listen to you you may well listen to her mum or dad, she will make herself ill if she continues to do this !.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to sit down and convince her other wise, i have been where she is and know where she is going, you need to tell her parents and your parents and tell them your concernedWww@Answer-Health@Com

People should start to notice soon, try and convince her that a healthy diet and exercise is the way to lose weight!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

i dont know how long, shouldnt be long!!! but you should be persistant in telling people, keep bugging until they start to believe, its the only way, she prob needs help sooner than later!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you talked to anyone about this yet are are you just assuming no1 will take you seriously!?

Kirsty xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

encourage her to eat vegetables and fruit ( lots) !. it's a start !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

first and formost im guessing shes sixteen too,
you really need to try and tell her parents as around that age your body goes through so many changes there may not be any istant changes to her weight!.
its sound like she is at the starting point of an eating disorder not eating properly and not drinking the right fluids will start to effect her moods, skin and hair as well as weight loss!. she in time will be pale, her hair will start to fall out and she will be constantly tired!. it'll effect her immune system so she will pick up stomach bugs and colds easly!.
you should let her know of your concerns and let her try and talk to you the start of most eating disorders is triggered by a mental lapse (it doesnt mean that shes crazy) its just she may have low self esteem, may be being abused or bullied or feel that she needs to be in control of her life!.
she needs to know that there are people around her that care about her, dont try and force feed her but ask her out a few times and make a point of adding a meal to each outing see if she eats encourage her to get dessert of course start small, cinema = popcorn etc!.

but please let her parents know as their tnhe only ones who will have enough control over her, to get her the help she needs!.
