I can't sleep what should i do?!


Question: I can't sleep what should i do!?
everry summer it is like this: i take a shower and prepare to sleep though i am on my bed i can't sleep!. i lay there and stare at the ceiling for hours or i try go online or read a book!. i feel tird but i can't sleep!. i go to the doctors with the same problem every summer ago they gave me sleeping pills but i dont want to be on the pills i dont want to rely on them!. i havent gone to the doctors this summer i want to try something new but i dont know what!. i stare at my ceiling thinking all noght when all i want to do is sleep!. i think of random things!. i try making a list eery night to remind me of what to do in the morning what to think of during the day but it doesnt work i still can't sleep!. when i take the pills i wake up like 3 hours later then i fall into this very uncomfortable wake up and doze off again sleep!. during the school year i have nightmare that keep me awake for couple minutes but i sleep fine otherwise!. the nightmares are another story though!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Just think of sleep, don't make lists before you go to bed or your mind will be active until you complete your list!.!.!.
2!. Don't take a shower before bed, that will wake you up
3!. Exercise about three hours before your bedtime, that should make you sleepy

5!. Do you have a dark room- lights on or galring in the windows will keep you up
6!. Get up out of bed earlier and go outside, allow yourself to feel some sunshine!.!.Vitamin D is a natural sleep aid
7!. Don't read, that's another way to activate your mind
8!. don't set an alarm clock! Don;t even think about having to get up in the morning!
9!. Lay down flat in a quiet, comfortable place free from distractions, allow your mind to become weightless, slowly imagine your body getting lighter and lighter starting slowly from the tips of your toes to your feet to your ankels to you shins to your thighs to your hips to your stomach to the tips of your fingers to your hands to your wrists to your forearms to your elbows to your chest to your back to your neck to your chin your face and up to the top of your head, breathe three deep breaths slowly, allowing yourself to breathe in 5 seconds hold for three second and exhale count to 4 and repeat twice, no lay there and you will sleep!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Exercise helps with sleep!. Also hormones (peri-menopause), vitamins ( taking B later in the day), and sunlight exposure can contribute to restlessness!. A late doctor friend of mine said that eating late at night can not only keep you up late, but also contribute to nightmares because of the digestion process!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe you should a combo of exercise and a banana and warm milk!. Don't think of anything the momnet you close your eyes!. Don't go from a bright screen to your bed immeadiatley!.!.!.you'll think about what you just saw!. Try to close your eyes for at least 7minutes!. Maybe its the heat in the summer that's casuing you discomfort!? Maybe you should open a window, try cooling it down a bit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OK, what you can do to try and help is read at least half an hour to an hour before you are wanting to sleep, no TV or computer!.!.!.and do not workout before bed, not only will it not help your body but then you will be more awake cause you got your heart rate up!. and a warm drink with no caffeine or too much sugar with some bread or something will help!.!.!. i suggest some warm vanilla tea!.!.!.decaf!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well what mite help is sleeping in new places like the couch or the floor you can drink some milk but what helps me is to go to eat in till im full and have a glass of warm tea if that dosn't help just fourse your eyes close and count to 2,00 if that dosnt work

try playing a tiring sport like football or squash and then come back and have a bath
finish ur food early and dont read books or dont go online before going to bed!.!.
listen to melodious music and then go to bed!.!.!.

i had the same problem! but dont worry!. and its a good idea to stay OFF the pills too and theres alot of things you can try!.!. like you can try waking yourself up earlier so that you kinda get back on scedual or maybe theres somthing on your mind!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try doing some hard labor!. It feels good to go to bed physically tired rather than just mentally!. Also, try to take your shower in the AM!. Showers can wake you up instead of relaxing you sometimes!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

when i cant sleep i lay in bed with the lights out no tv!. and i have this thing to cover my eyes and i put on my ipod and blast music!!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well dont exercise or eat alot of food before you go to sleep, exercise will stimulate your brain and your whole body, well laborous excercise will, and eating will just go almost straight to fat if you go to sleep after!. Try taking a long walk, if you like peanut butter eat a teaspoon of that(my mom read that in a mag and swore by it, and she was an insomniac), then read something you have absolutely no interest in reading, like an owners manual or something, that should bore you into sleep!. Oh and the PB thing takes about 1/2 hr to get you tired!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

u should really try not to take sleeping pills, once u depend on them its really hard to get off of them!. try not to eat or drink any sort of cold or caffeinated foods or drinks during most of the day, especially near sleeping time!. sometimes nightmares r caused by uneasy stomaches!. u can try eating things that r easy to digest and natural (no fried foods), and at night u can hold a hot water bottle to ur stomach, and keep ur sleeping time stable!. if u really can't sleep don't lay there cuase it can make it worse, do something and once u feel oozy go straight to bed!. drinking warm beverages help sleep like milk or water!. hope it gets better, if not u can try going to other kinds of doctors like the tradition ones or the therapy ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
