Why are there more anorexic women than men?!

Question: Why are there more anorexic women than men!?
I've never met men who were anorexic, but I've met more women who are!. Last night, I went out to dinner with my friend & his cousin!. After we finished dinner, she went to the ladies room & I followed along a few minutes later!. Then I heard sounds of vomiting & asked her if everything was ok!. She said yes, but she told me she had to remove the food from her stomach!. I couldn't help but laugh at her & told her that we spent all this time trying to get reservations to eat @ this nice restaurant, spent time looking at the menu then pay a huge bill for our dinner, only for her to throw it up --just to feed her anorexic disorder!. Then I went off on this whole thing by comparing her to people who are dying of hunger who would do anything to get food in their stomach!. The thing is, I've had these anorexic women go off & yell at me by them trying to explain their disorder!. I can never understand it!. I suppose men don't have this problem, or do they!? Men like being fed, don't they!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are men anorexics, manorexics they're called!. Anyway, you just don't hear about them as much because typically men don't show their vulnerability!. So many women are anorexics because the media has skewed the image of a "perfect" woman!. Models these days are 6ft tall and 110lbs!. I wish people would look back at pin-ups!. Bettie Page was 5'6" and about 125lbs!. Marilyn Monroe actually had healthy curves!. Models and actresses shouldn't define what beautiful, or even normal for that matter, is!. The average woman in the U!.S!. is 5'4" and 140lbs!. The models are the freaks, not the rest of us!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds to me like this woman is bulimic, not anorexic!. Alot of men do have eating disorders, it's just not as well known!. Too many women think it's "in" to have an eating disorder, while guys think its "girly" and don't talk about it!. My husband used to be anorexic, of course no one thought guys could be, so he didn't get any help until I met him and mentioned him not eating!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because there is more pressure from society and the media for women to be thin, because that is the present ideal of beauty, whereas men aren't usually judged on their bodies, but if a female celebrity gains 10 pounds, she is automatically thought to be pregnant, and if it turns out she isn't people will start calling her fat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because women care about figure men could care lessWww@Answer-Health@Com

I dated an anorexic bulemic girl and it was no fun!. I love to cook and go all out on homemade meals and up it comes!. She would get furious at me for pointing out the health risks and complaining that she was being a poor role model for her daughters!. She had a very poor image of herself and it is perpetuated by our culture!. With everyone thinking that boney *** girls with no back are hot then girls are subconsciously pushed to that extreme even when they are beautiful!. My girl friend is gorgious, athletic, great shape, very hot legs!. We just went to the beach and because of one picture, the way the shadow hit her, she has got some "i'm fat" thing going!. Its not her fault and I tell her shes attractive all ther time but women are conditioned by the media!. It is very sad!. Those girls are hurting themselves very badly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think you get it, these women don't want to be this way they just can't help it and of couarse they know their people starving but they don't want to be fat and that scarys them they can't control it its a illness that can be help but yelling at them just makes them feel worse and its not even about the food its about how they feel about it, and yes men get anorexia too and their other forms of eating disoders like over exercising, throwing up[bulmic], binge-eating, i think you need to understand that its not a choice they make its a medical condition that has chemical imblancesWww@Answer-Health@Com
