Ok first off, are you getting help for your depression!? If you are not, I recommend it!.

Do not: Watch TV, go on the computer, drink caffine, eat a lot, or consume a lot of sugar before attempting to go to sleep!.

ok I would take a soothing shower or bath, not too late, then maybe put on lotion to distract yourself, maybe a scented one with lavender!. (it's an herb that makes you relax) Maybe make yourself some tea, but not a huge cup because you could be distracted by the fullness of your stomach!. When you are in your bed, lay down in a comfortable position and tense up your whole body for 5 seconds!. Then do your legs for 5 seconds, your arms for 5 seconds, your shoulders, your hands, your toes!. Start with the biggest parts of your body to the smallest and tense and relax in intervals!. When your whole body is relaxed, clear your mind and try to fall asleep!. Also, take slow calming breathes if you can't relax or if you are!.!. not calm

Also, try blocking out as much light as possible!. If i try to take a nap in a bright room, I personally find it impossible!. Either block out the light, or cover your eyes with something!. If noises are bothering you, find the source and impede them, or stop them, OR obtain ear plugs!.

One thing however, don't think about going to sleep!. When you are trying, don't think about making yourself go to sleep!. That can make you distracted and too occupied to actually fall asleep!.

I hope you feel better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm dealing with insomnia myself!. First off, it's an age old rumor that all people need 8 hours of sleep a night!. I'm learning that I need exactly 5 hours of sleep and then maybe a nap if I can manage to sleep in the day!. I've gone several nights without sleep and it drives you crazy but you know, your body will sleep when it's ready!. Fretting about insomnia definitely makes it worse!. Being depressed also causes insomnia!. I would suggest seeing a doc about an antidepressant!. They don't have to be long term!. Another thing that helps me is a VERY hot bath and then a good book!. Be good to yourself!. It helps you relax!. Also, an 'natural' remedy, melatonin, has helped me regulate my sleep cycles!. Buy a trusted brand once you get the ok from your doc!. You'll get there! Don't fret too much about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is my first wk on this Med!. So far it has helped a little bit, but I won't get the full affect till after about 2 wks approx!. I also suffer from depression, I have for at least 20 yrs!. I just refused to get help till now!. Believe this, you cannot will yourself to sleep, it just won't happen!. This drug I mentioned it an anti-depressant & works as an anti-anxity drug!. Don't wait to see your doctor, Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
