Question: I'm an alcoholic, I can't seem to show any emotion unless i drink, is that normal!?

Alcoholics typically drink to allow themselves to feel emotions, feel connections and also suppress negative feelings about themselves!. It is a normal thing that happens, but is not a normal way to live!. You are using alcohol to allow yourself to be you, because it gives you a feeling of freeness and really an excuse to do so, while suppressing yourself when you have clarity and fear!. I would suggest therapy to find out why you can not be you unless you're not sober!. I wish you luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

one personality when you are dry, a different one when you are sotted!. the booze probably helps you lower your inhibitions/fears and you are able to open up!.
is it normal!? no, but common for an alcoholic!. it doesn't have to remain this way---it took time for me after sobering up-but i eventually got a handle on my emotions & became able to express feelings!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A drunken tongue speaks a sober mouth! It is so true - I guess it's learning to be yourself when you are alive, sober and well - and not burrying your head into what seems a relaxing state, it isn't! That first glass of anything calms you down, and then it is an addiction - but the more you drink, the more the emotions come out from under the woodwork! It's the see-saw that you either look up at, as to who you want to be and where you are now!. Keep and start that fighting balance!. xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

Of course it is not normal to only show emotion when you're drinking! Drinking may loosen your inhibitions, but you need to be able to assert yourself when you're sober!. I hope you are getting help for your alcoholism!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
