Go for a walk, all that lovely visual input!.
have a really good cry , vent it , holding it in does no good!.
awareness of your thoughts, negative thoughts = negative feelings, so don,t entertain them ,let those thoughts just pass by as if clouds

Self help is a marketing sham to sell books!.

If you are depressed, then you are depressed!. Its no different to having a cold (and just as indiscriminate)

Not that I like chemical treatments much either, but seeing the Doctor and getting those is up to the individual

There are a lot of non-medication options that you should try before taking the next step!. Journaling, exercise, a healthy diet, meditation, and therapy are all good choices!. See what they do for you!. If you need more, you might consider using an herbal substance called Salvia!. They are leaves that you can chew or smoke and they increase the seratonin in your brain!. It's not habit forming or dangerous in any way!. You can find it on Ebay, but you'll need to find out if it is legal in your state, it is illegal in a few!. If this doesn't sound like the right option for you, then you should consider seeing a doctor!. There are many good anti-depressants available today!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

please please please go to see your GP i suffered for so long before i finally broke down in tears to my health visitor one day and couldn't stop she made such a difference to me and my family just by being someone i knew i could talk too these things don't just go away you need to tell someone how you are feeling my biggest regret is the time i wasted not getting help sooner i could of been happier all that time i say crying i could of been smiling like i do now life is good again it could be for you if you cant face going by yourself get someone who knows what your like to go with although to me my depression was private think all those around knew it before me all the best and good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

i dont know i always feel depressed esp since my dad passed two years ago but i try to keep a smile for my family and momWww@Answer-Health@Com

i think medication is the best option
citalopram is pretty good
