Fear is an adaptive human response to danger!. It serves a protective purpose, activating the fright-flight response of the sympathetic nervous system!. When faced with danger our sympathetic nervous system produces adrenaline!.This prepares us for flight or flee the physical threat!. This increases heart rate and blood flow to our large muscles which makes it easier to run!.blood sugar also increases which gives us more energy!.This can be dangerous since you could have a panic attack like you did on that ride!.

Practice stress and anxiety relieving technique's such as yoga, meditation or deep breathing!. This helps you relax in the situation and helps with symptoms!.

Avoid high places that trigger panic!. Some people have severe forms of acrophobia and avoidance may be hard to deal with!.

Take advantage of opportunities to over come acrophobia, which means to challenging YOURSELF to put your self gradually into situation that cause your fears!. But start small like getting on a chair, ladder, step stool with out using hands and letting go once on top, be careful!.

Use positive thinking to diffuse the situation THINKING POSITIVELY "I CAN DO THIS " over and over and with deep breathing and other forms of relaxing may help you diffuse the situation!. Finding that your FEAR is NOT as great in a situation as you thought it may help you reduce the panic!.

Try medications designed to reduce anxiety, consult medical professional before takeing medications for this purpose!.

Treat acrophobia with behavior therapy this focuses on changing the way you respond to the feared situation!. This may help you learn about this fear you may wish to vist a psychologist or a psychiatrist for some more help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Desensitization can work depending on the severity of the phobia!. If it is mild, sometimes people can work through it on their own by forcing themselves to push through the fear and experience heights!.

However, if you have a more severe phobia (where you essentially become paralyzed with fear or feel retraumatized after attempting to push through the fear) I would recommend hypnotherapy!. I was severely arachnophobic for over 15 years to the point where it affected by daily life and mental health!. I had seen a therapist and we did some desensitization, but it only worked to a certain point!. However, hypnotherapy actually completely got rid of the fear!. People who used to witness the deep, paralyzing fear that I had cannot even believe I am the same person now!.!.!. the fear is simply gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only thing you can do is face your fear!. Go to a theme park with your best and closest friend whom you really trust, or with family members, and first go on a smaller ride and just close your eyes!. Tell them to force you on it no matter how much you protest!.

Facing your fear is the only thing you can do, but it helps to have others with you!. My one friend had the same problem!. She really wanted to try it, I convinced her that they were so much fun and she said she'd go on it only if I was with her!. Give it a try!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Same here and I'm 48yrs! I just try to avoid heights! This shouldn't really effect your life - I went on to be a Air Stewardess!

best wishes
