When you were doing it you were not in a normal frame of mind, so looking back now, some of the decisions you made will not make sense to you!. Please don't blame yourself and try to move on!. You may have just done it on your arms cos at the time nothing really mattered to you, so it didn't really matter where you did it!. A visible scar is also like an extra way of punishing yourself!. People who say that this behaviour is attention seeking just don't understand it, ignore them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Subconsciously, you WERE trying to seek attention and say, LOOK AT ME! I AM IN PAIN! The top of the arms is the first place a cutter will cut because it causes pain, but not unbearable pain!. Just enough to release the inner pain!. It also shows a lack of self-esteem!. Like you should be punished!. I knew a boy who used to slash himself across his chest with a knife, burn himself, and brand himself!. His sister was a heroin addict-prostitute, his father was in prison, and his mom abandoned him at age 10!. He was a mental catasrophy!. I'm glad to hear that you have stopped!. Now put it behind you and move on with your life!. Stop dwelling on the how and why, and just MOVE ON!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Self harm isn't about seeking attention or suicide, it is simply a coping mechanism!. It is quite common in people suffering from depression!. Well done on stopping though - it took me a long time and it wasn't easy so I know it must have been difficult for you!. Try not to over analyse it - you were going through a bad time and you did whatever you could to cope and get through it and you are coming out the other side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It may not be attention seeking but it is not something to ignore!. Even though others don't see it, you do!.You crave for others to know but hidding makes it even more of a challange because you want them to know your secret!. My ex husband was suicidal and has scars on his arms, chest and legs!. You don't want to do be the same way because it does not look pretty and one moment of depression will cost your body for a lifetime!. Don't go any further okay!. Think about it this way you can always tattoo that armWww@Answer-Health@Com

i used to cut and like you at the time it didnt seem like attention seeking but then now looking back it so OBVIOUSLY was!.

i guess if you wanted to look at it simply you could say it was attention seeking, but then again there mightve been other reasons that you cut in that spot

(first of all top of the arms doesnt hurt as much)

maybe you were just trying to find a spot that was easy to get at!?

idk but its good that youve stopped, its not worth itWww@Answer-Health@Com

its quite common actually when you have depression to cut yourself anywhere!. In all of these cases, it should be taken seriously really!. I always found it intresting when people say "oh pull yourself together, thats not a reason to be depressed" we have different tolerance levels all of us, what one problem might be to one person, may seem trivial to another!. I guess thats what makes us unique!. Im glad you have stopped self harming!. Dont think about it now, move forward and make a happy life for yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well cutting can be the cause of attention but some people cant help but do it, but by asking it it sorta shows that you are looking for attention sorry its not to be mean in anyway!. you should go and get some help its a bad habit and you will wind up hurting urself really bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I guess people out of the streets do speculate on how your arms became 'injured' so THAT certainly got you attention!.!.!.but I'm thinking!.!.!.doesn't it hurt to cut yourself!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I HATE CUTTERS SOIT WOULDNT ATRACT MY ATTENTION WHO WANTS ATTENTION FOR STUPIDITYWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes i do it and i am stilll trying to recover dont do it pleaseWww@Answer-Health@Com

I used to, and I wish I could turn back time and stop myself from ever doing it!. When I did it I was heavier, and I thought I would never want to show my arms again anyway!. I never showed them, or even told anyone until I was over it!. My thinking was all screwed and couldn't imagine feeling happy again, and didn't care what I did to myself!. Well I am happy now, Im in a very good place!. But I hate having a constant reminder of where I was!. And constantly having to hide the scars sucks too!. I wish I could have realised that depression was controlling my mind and that things weren't that bad!.
But anyhoo, whats done is done, and at least when I see my arms I remember that I never want to go back to that place!. Keeps my chin up I suppose!. They're my battle scars!.
Kudos for stopping too, and good luck for the future - I hope we never have to feel that way again! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
