Can anxiety cause your eyes to play tricks on you?!

Question: Can anxiety cause your eyes to play tricks on you!?
I am a 21 year old female with GAD and OCD!. For my disorders, I am on Paxil CR 12!.5 mg!. For a brief period ending a few days ago, I was on the 25 mg, but that caused me to have pretty severe side effects!. Since beginning the 25 mg, I have had a lot of issues with my eyes!.
1) I have been noticing blind spots constantly! I know everyone has them in their eyes, but its almost as if I have been looking for them!. When I do find one, I become extremely anxious and worry that I have a brain tumor!.
2) I have been having trouble focusing my eyes!. When I try to read the words on a page of a book, my eyes feel as though they are jumping around from word to word!. I can't seem to concentrate!
These are my main problems, along with the cloudy head feeling that I have been experiencing lately!. I just want to know if this is a normal side effect of my disorders!? Or if it is just that the 25mg of Paxil was too much for my body and I need to give it some time to go back to normal!? I also went to theWww@Answer-Health@Com

Anxiety can absolutely play with your eyes!

My best friend has general anxiety disorder!. During a period of very bad anxiety attacks, she was 100% convinced her eyesight was poor!. She felt she couldn't see very well or read words and was therefore unable to read (something she enjoys) and was terrified to drive!. I went with her to an optometrist and she had her vision checked!. She was SHOCKED to learn that not only was her eyesight fine - but she has better than perfect vision!. She is not on Paxil, btw, so that wasn't her excuse!. Soon after getting confirmation that her eyes were okay she stopped feeling like she was going blind!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well my anxiety doesn't play tricks on me, but i would be worrying also if i was you because thats what OCD does to me as well!. It is probably just the side effects of paxil or an allergic reaction or it could be lyme disease Just relax and wait for the results from your doctor being anxious will just make it worse, trust me i am one to know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Apparently Paxil CAN cause visual disturbances!. See the exerpt from the RX description found on www!.medicinenet!.com:

The most common symptoms of withdrawal have been dizziness, tiredness, tingling of the extremities, nausea, vivid dreams, irritability, and poor mood!. Other symptoms have included visual disturbances and headaches!.

I was on paxil years ago and have NEVER had such a BAD reaction to a drug EVER! It killed my sex drive, i had drug withdrawals when i forgot a dose, and i had suicidal thoughts and severe depression when i tapered myself off of it, per my DR's orders!. Please be careful and aware of the side effects of any drug u are taking!!

I'm currently taking welbutrin for depression and found that when i'm not so depressed that I can control my anxiety!.

Wait to hear back from the DR re: lyme disease then discuss your options with them!. Sometimes u just have to wait (and panic) try to stay calm and know whatever answer they give you, u can deal with it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It probably will if you lay low and chill out for the next few days!.
Baby yourself!.Like get a nice warm shower in the morning , fuzzy slippers and robe and pj's!.Big jug of ice cream and a
happy , funny movie to go along with it!.If the doctor said anything do, add that too!.Also try resting take some tylenol or motrine for the cloudness and rest your eyes!.You nay just need a little bit of rest!.Don't worry it's normal my mom gets them all the time!(She is only 38)So try relaxing !.!.!.!.!.Also don't watch a really long movie it will make your eyes water up!.!.!.!.and sit back from the screen!.!.!.!.!.!.Try your HARDEST not to read much!.
I hope i helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The SSRIs have significant side-effects linked to vision!.!.!. e!.g!. extra floaters, blurred vision, seeing 'things', light sensitivity, night vision problems, visual hallucinations!. Blurred or abnormal vision are common side-effects!.

One to talk to the doc about!?

Here's the Paxil sheet!.!.!.!. nystagmus is also a side-effect (rare)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well if it is Lyme disease everything will go back to normal!. But the blind spots I wouldn't worry about everyone has those but I know sometimes that can be caused by a Freckle in the eye which in turn could in fact be skin cancer of the eye!. Which is usually I forget the cancer type!. The focusing thing could be possibly dislexic or you may need glasses I know I have reading glasses and I don't wear them when I am at school and when I am not wearing them I cannot focus on the word because the print is so small but yet on the computer I can read fine for the most part unless the article has really small print then I get dizzy and my eyes go all over the place!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
