Answers:
The psychological disorder is likely caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain!. It has something to do with the action potential in the neurons which misfire in other words some receptors in your neurotransmitters aren't activated while in other occasions they are (thus the low and highs)!. Because of these reasons, MOST people with bipolar disorder should stick to their medications!. Ignoring it will only make it worse!. You may stay busy at what you are doing but what are you going to do when you are so depressed you don't even want to get out of bed!. Do you think your plan will work then!? Seek professional help before you do things like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sure, but every single time you swing at all, the illness progresses!. Eventually, you live with pretty severe consequences and more meds to manage it than if you started now!. Odds also are high that you'll make a big mess of your life a few times along the way!. I sure wish I'd been diagnosed and started meds years ago!. Now I have to take a fistful to survive!. It's not a choice I'd recommend to anybody!. Oh, and yes, you can therapy away in lieu of meds!. It's good and s/b done w/meds, but it only teaches you how to manage emotions!. It doesn't do nearly as much at stoping episodes or stopping all the short circuits going on in your head during them!.

Staying busy isn't the alternative answer to meds!. Ongoing therapy, a set sleep-wake cycle, no alcohol or drugs, aerobic exercise, healthy diet, yoga or other means of managing stress, and a very strong support system are!. NOT overloading is a big factor, too!. You will not be able to maintain it when you are depressed!. Seek balance in everything regardless of your mood!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had bipolar disorder for nearly 18 yrs and have only been getting medication for about the last 6 or so!. Its possible, but trust me the quality of life is much better with the medication!. without it, the only way to keep it handled is to constantly be hyperaware or your every mood, thought, action, and behaviour!. It can quickly wear you outWww@Answer-Health@Com

It is definitely a possibility but it depends on how severe your illness is!. It also takes a certain type of person!. I have tried to go off medication twice now since being diagnosed 8 yrs ago, always under my psychiatrist's supervision, and have not been successful!. One of the times I ended up having to be hospitalized because I was in a very bad state and refused to go back on the medication!. It can be very easy when you are on meds and doing really well to start to wonder if you really need them at all!. I'm not saying you wont be able to, though!. Like I said, it really depends on how you handle it!. Just please make sure and talk w/ your psychiatrist about it and get their input!. (Plus most drugs you have to be tapered off of - you can't just quit taking them!.) Whatever you decide, I hope it works for you!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I ask that you NOT try without medicine!. I have a daughter which(21) which refuses to take medicine!. She has a full time job, not many friends and I believe she has her troubles at work, home and even in a store because she will not take med's!.
If you doctor agrees to cut your medicine dose down- that would be ok - but please remember, sometimes the person with bipolar does not see what their family/ friends see and yes, it's because of the illness!.!. Take Care!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutly 100% positivly NO, NADA, NOT!!!

I have suffered with BPD for 20+ years and tried what you are suggesting for all but the last 1 1/2 years!. My life has been so much better once I got treated!.

Meds suck, but the destruction BPD leaves in it's wake is much worse, trust me on this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely, being busy is a suitable management technique, among others!. It depends a lot on the extent of your illness as to whether you would need anything else!. I found small doses of lithium carbonate over a few years to be quite helpful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's possible to treat it without medication, but not by being busy all the time!. That will probably make you worse!.

Rather, you should be sure you take time care for yourself!. Medicate!. Eat well!.Cut down on caffiene!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would be best to ask your physician who is treating you if he/she thinks you should try that route!. Remember when you are in the depths of the illness you fail to see what is really going on with yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
