Question: Is a teacher still a mandated reporter once a student turns 18!?
This summer, I've developed an eating disorder!. My parents are unaware of it!. I turn 18 soon after school starts!. If teachers/counselors start to become concerned, can they still talk to my parents about it once I turn 18!? Or do the "mandated reporter" rules remain in effect for any student who is still in HS!?
What if I told a teacher I wanted to commit suicide and I was 18!? Could they legally do anything about it!?

Yes, a teacher could legally (and likely would, if she is ethical) alert your parents, regardless of your age!.

yes and even call DCS- its like if you quit going to school here in Tennessee regardless if your 18 or live with your parents or not they'll go to jail because your in their custody and their responsible for you!.so if you don't want then to know you better not say anything or make its obvious theres a prob!.but don't get it twisted I'm not enabling or encouraging you to not eat or purge or kill your self or anything!.I'm sorry you have these many probs!.and dont do nuthin stupid plezWww@Answer-Health@Com
