Question: Am looking for significant similarities & differences between Bipolar vs ADHD!?
Family members are discussing the possible diagnosis of another family member!. We're split down the middle between which is the correct diagnosis, so I'm looking for possible differences & similarities between the 2 diagnoses!?

For the record, though, I have ultra-rapid cycling bipolar disorder, and am very bothered by loud noise, particularly if afflicted with the bipolar irritability at the time!.
ADHD individuals find paying attention to ANYTHING for a period of time to be difficult!. Persons who have bipolar disorder are able to pay attention just like anyone who doesn't have the disorder!.
Individuals with bipolar illness will have huge mood swings, which aren't particularly common in ADHD!.!.
Hypomania can show flight of ideas, agitation, irritability, impulsivity, spending sprees, hypersexuality, pressured speech, and racing thoughts!. The only trait in common between this and ADHD is the impulsivity!.
The depressive phase and mixed states (with mania and depression simultaneously) not only make the patient's life a sheer hell, but either one seriously raises the risk of suicide!.
It's wise to encourage the person in question to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist, completely skipping a family doctor unless one requires a referral!. The family can urge the patient to seek help by reiterating that current medication and psychotherapy will greatly improve one's quality of life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar is manic-depressive behavior!.
That means the person alternates between extreme bouts of depression where he/she is unable to function and extreme feelings of invincibility which results in acting on emotional highs!.

ADHD is simply manic behavior all the time that results in the diminished ability to concentrate on anything for periods of time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
