How to control panic attacks?!

Question: How to control panic attacks!?
How can panic attacks be controlled when in stressful situations!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
What I do is just breathe deeply and repeat something over and over in my head, like a steady rhythm!. I say "1 one-thousand, 2 one-thousand, 3 one thousand, 4 one thousand, 5 one thousand, 6 one thousand, 7 one thousand, 8 onethousand" and then start back up at 1 onethousand!. It's got a nice beat to it, and it takes my mind off the situation!.

I know some people who keep saying "this too shall pass" but that doesn't really work for me!.

Just keep in mind that whatever is going on around you is not that important!. Somewhere else in the world, somebody is going through something wayyy harder!. You have it easy in comparison!.
And pretty soon, things will simmer down until you're actually bored from having nothing to worry about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand completely!. Please know that you are not alone!. I have dealt with Anxiety/Panic Disorder since middle school!. Having now graduated college, I've had some time to figure out some good solutions!.

First of all, many professionals that you might go see for this condition might automatically place you on medication to "help" you!. They mean well, however, unless this is an emergency-only prescription, such as Xanax (to take when you feel panicky symptoms coming on), think about it a lot before you decide!. The medication they put me on for two years did help my panicked feelings subside, but I also really couldn't feel any other emotions!. I was kind of a zombie, and I didn't like not feeling anything!. In addition, I gained 60 lbs that I'm still trying to get rid of, and I actually ate LESS on this medication, since I didn't need to eat to try to calm myself down!. Not only that, but going on a medication without first trying other things doesn't do much to teach you techniques or strategies you can try when you start feeling anxious!. And coming off of most anti-anxiety drugs is a real pain because of the withdrawal symptoms!.

I am now not on any medication, with the exception of a small prescription (10 pills of a very low dose) for Xanax, in case I don't catch my symptoms in time, or I am unable to calm myself down!.

One thing I've learned that helps is to keep something small I can sort in my purse!. Any menial task that will distract you from your anxiety and get your thoughts focused elsewhere!. Sorting Froot Loops (M&Ms, Skittles, etc!.) into color groups, for example, works very well!. Also, there is the added advantage that your hands are busy and sometimes it helps to be able to nibble on small bits of crunchy food!.

If you're in a public place and don't want to look odd sorting things, look around you for "5 Things," and go through your senses!. For example, ask yourself, "What are 5 things I can see!?" and name them in your head!. "What are 5 things I can hear!?" etc!. You can go more specific or more broad by instead trying to name all of the colors that you see around you or counting things like window panes, sidewalk blocks, ceiling tiles, etc!. I think the reason these things help anxious people calm down is that we are able to see that there is still order in our quickly-turning-chaotic world!. You can also think through the ABCs backward, or go through the words to a song that puts you in a good mood!.

Another trick is to reach into your purse (if you are female) or find and feel an object (such as a key) with your fingers, picturing it in your head as you do so!. A key has small ridges and bumps in it that form patterns and are interesting to feel!. Hairbrushes, pencils, cell phone buttons and others are good as well!.

Water is also a soother!. If you can get to a bathroom or kitchen, run the water over your hands and splash in onto your face if you want to!. This also works with crying babies, believe it or not (but don't splash them in the face, please!)!.

I hope I've helped at least a little!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sometimes if you know that you're about to be put in a stressful situation, "desensitizing" yourself is best--let yourself be in situations that trigger a panic attack little by little, so that you actually get used to it!.
Also, if worse comes to worst and you have a panic attack, just think logically!. Tons of people have panic attacks!. But no one else can tell besides you!. And, physiologically, you're okay!. You're not going to die from this, your heart isn't going to explode!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to work for this company that helped people deal with anxiety, stress, depression, panic attacks, bipolar, etc!.!. and there is a program out that gives you ways to deal with panic attacks!.!. I have the program myself and it does help!. You get a 30-day trial (usually 45 days and still able to get more time if you call and ask for it) During your trial you are able to use all the materials and write in the workbook and after you are done then if you dont want it send it back no questions asked!. If you do want it and cant pay all at one time they can but you on a payment plan for as low as 40 dollars a month!. Its by Lucinda Bassett, and its called "Attacking Anxiety and Depression"!.!.!. This will really help not only with panic attacks but everyday stress, losing weight, gettin energy, etc!. Hopefully this helps!.!. website listed for more information!.!.!. Sadly there is not sure fire way to stop a panic attack!.
I too have suffered from panic attacks!.
I find it best to accept that an attack is coming and then ride it out instead of trying to fight it!.
Fighting an attack will actually only make it worse!.
I find self talk, like'I am Ok', Whatever happens when I go in there, will be fine!.
If i have a bad attack and people notice, than that's for them to deal with, but it is not going to kill me no matter what happens,!.!.!.!.
Councilors, groups, CBT (Congenital Behavioral Therapy) helps, and of course there are drugs to help calm before or a panic attack - if you like get Social Phobia, take something prior meeting groups of people!. Or there are ssri's and the likes to ask your Doc also about, and they may help in a consistently through the day way!.
But Ultimately for the long term, is to step , by step, taking it bit by bit, remembering not to be hard on yourself, for you never did this to you!, but again, you and I , know-one, (clean) or otherwise, wants to take drugs for the rest of their lives, so , it may be a slow journey, but perhaps you can put in your journal, I was able to talk to my neighbour over the fence today, afeww weeks later, I gave change to the pizza dude without trembling, and later i went shopping with my neighbour, for the 1st time in a long time, that I,ve been out of the house!!
Marvellous progress!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
