Psychiatrists are medical doctors and can prescribe medicine!.
The doc who talks to you while you lie on a chair is more likely a psychologist than a psychiatrist!. But psychiatrists do that, too!. It's just that lately, psychiatrists have tended to become pill prescribers, while psychologists, who are not medical doctors but generally have PhD's, and who get paid less, are the ones who do therapy where they talk to people in their office for an hour at a time!.
That would be clinical, by the way--clinical psychs help people in an office!. Experimental psychologists do research on people and are connected with labs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
