I have some pretty severe situational anxiety. What sort of medication might be !

Question: I have some pretty severe situational anxiety!. What sort of medication might be best for me!?
I get EXTREMELY freaked out, but only in a couple of situations that are very very rare!. One is when my husband is out of town, I get scared to be home alone, even with a phone, a knife, pepper spray, etc!. by the bed!. I was not like this at all when I lived alone before we married!. The other is in a car when driving conditions are horrible (ice and snow or driving rain)!. I mean as the passenger; I wouldn't take meds while driving myself!. I want something that is not habit forming, but really works!. Please don't suggest relaxation breathing or meditation, etc!., because I have tried it all!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off, I am NOT a doctor!. But the best meds to deal with anxiety issues like that are benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, etc!. ) which are, unfortunately, habit-forming!. But they're usually VERY effective for most people with anxiety!. Anti-depressants in the SSRI class are often effective at dealing with anxiety disorders, but they have a side effect profile a lot of people don't like!.

Really, though, talk to a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try Effexor XR - I used to take it, and I have alot of anxiety!. My b/f used to be a trucker, so he was away from home ALOT!. I know how ya feel!

But Effexor XR is non habit forming, and it worked wonders for me! Just be sure to start out on a low dose to see what works well for you - the doc can always adjust the dosage later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
