Question: I cut after 24 days cut free!! What can I do to make myself feel better about it!?!!? :'(!?

First, take time out to congratulate yourself!. 24 days SI free is an AMAZING accomplishment!.

2nd, take great care in the words you use when you speak to yourself about your most recent SI incident!. This is merely a 'hiccup' on your road to mastery over this behavior!. It is not a setback which needs to mercilessly pummel you back into the pattern of behavior!.

It was a mistake!. USE IT!. Learn from it!.

Sit down right now, while it is fresh in your mind!. Write about what might have triggered this most recent "hiccup"!. Take even more time to write about what you could do DIFFERENTLY next time (e!.g!., coping mechanisms, self soothing, emotional regulation, distress tolerance)!.

Tend to your wound gently and with great care, but be sure to tend to your MIND with equal diligence!.

Find another source of venting!. I used to cut!. I found drawing, writing, even a punching bag works!. I know they don't feel the same but they do release the same energy!. I even took to drawing extremely graphic and violent pictures at one time!. It helps to vent in healthy ways!. Also thinking about how cutting affects the people around you can change your thoughts on the subject!. Finding a healthier medium of "releasing the pain" or "making yourself feel" actually works!. Hey you could also try sculpting stone or something of the sort, you're using sharp things but you're creating something instead of damaging!. Plus it's embarrassing explaining the scars!. Overcoming this obstacle is not easy!. After I had cut for a while, I told one person!.!.!.the only person that I thought would understand and help me, and she became my "person"!. This helped me tremendously!. She told me that when I thought that i was going to cut, that I needed to call her, no matter what, and while I dont call her every single time, I have called her, and we have talked about it!. I told her not because i wanted attention, in fact the opposite, i told her because I knew, deep down that she was the one person that i would trust with my thoughts and feelings and emotions!. Since telling her, I have cut on occasion, but it has become a lot less, and when I have, I tell her, and she tell me not to beat myself up over it, that she isn't going to give up on me!.!.!.!.I haven't cut in 32 days and counting, because now I look at it as another day that i dont have to disappoint my person by telling her that i have to start my counting over!.!.!.

You just dont need to give up, and try to find yourself a "person" it did me a world of good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok you have to look at it like i went 24 days without cutting and ok you are human so you had a little slip what you have to realize is that the world is full of humans and none of us are perfect so just say to yourself " ok i went 24 days and had a slip but i am human and i can beat this" so just take a deep breathe and start over!. just have faith in yourself you can do it!. take care and good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

oh butter cup im sorry this as happened!.
first of all take care of the cut, make sure its clean and well cleaned!. if its deep go to hosp!.

try an work out what triggered you off!. write it down on sum paper, and try and work out things u can say to urself the next time it arrises that will remove the need!. its always betta to do this just after uve cut as u remember what it was that triggered!.

make a plan of something to do next time u feel the urge!. i always find crochet brill for that as its so mind involving!.
if u still need to do it go for a very stomping fast walk that often works for me!.

are u seeing a counsellor or therapist!? they can really help!.
also have a word with ur doc about this!. i couldnt stop thinking about cutting till i was given the antideppressant citalopram 13 weeks ago!. not immediately but gradually the urge has faded so that now its only overwhelming me every few weeks ago!. which im managing to fight more because the need to do it isnt on my mind 24/7!.

just remember this is a slip up!. belive me they happen just try an work out a statedgy 4 next time

When your trying to stop cutting lots of people mess up!. Try really hard to not let it happen again!. Don't worry about & don't think about it!. Thinking about it will only depress you!. Stop cutting is freaking hard I know!. Keep counting the days don't let this one stop you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's a great acomplishment, congrats!. Reward yourself!. Go out and do or get something you love!. If you feel yourself slipping maybe you can try some cutting alternatives!.

Congrats on making if that far!. I know it is very hard, just continue what you are doing and be sure to learn how to express your stress in a healthy way like meditation or going for a walk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

remember, its progress, not perfection, in recovery!. It takes time!. try and think about your triggers, especially when you are stressed!. avoid those triggers when you can!. i hope too that you are getting some counceling and/ or recovery help, if not do!. you dont have to do this aloneWww@Answer-Health@Com

24 days is great! congragulate urself on going so long!.!.!.i think the longest i made it was 10 days!. but its really good!.!.!.just think about it and learn from ur mistakes!. as long as u dont fall back into the habbit it should be ok!. good luck going more!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
