Don't give up! Effexor is a good drug that is coindicated for anxiety as well as depression!. You haven't tried that many drugs so don't worry!. It takes time to find the right one!. The only draw back I can remember with Effexor is that it has a shorter half life, unless you are taking the extended release one!. If you miss pills with the shorter half life you will withdraw faster which includes depression and headaches!. No fun!. I have taken a low dose of Zoloft for 3 years after trying effexor (before xr came out), prozac, and st!. john's wort!. I am considering getting off in the near future since I feel that actually being on antidepressants taught me a lot about my reactions to my emotions!. Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can understand, I tried Effexor it did nothing for me, but it does for my friends!. Everybody's chemistry is different, but you need to give the meds 4-6 weeks to feel a difference if they're working!. I have tried all the antidepressants, and am on 2 separate antidepressants, the maximum dosage!. If it doesn't work (the Effexor), don't give up, just keep trying with your doctor's help, to find the one that will make you feel the best!. I take 80 mgs of Paxil and have no side effects at all, but others I know do!. Trust your doctor and be upfront with them!.
They won't give up on you if you don't give up on them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tracy H,

I am not a doctor, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt!. The human brain is so different from person to person that no one is really sure which medication is going to work on a given person!. Some people respond to some scripts and some to others!. It is not unlike the Tylenol, Advil and aleve choice for pain relievers!. Different people will take different ones, the others may simply not work at all on some people!.

Here we are talking about brains, not pains, and it gets even harder as the full working of the brain is not really understood as yet!.

Make sure you follow the exact dosing instructions and do not just quit the medication without checking with the doctor first!. Some of these have really bad side effects if you drop them too quickly!.

You also have to give them a real chance to work too, none of these work in an afternoon!. Some of these medications will take three or four weeks just to start to work, try to be patient and give it a chance to work!. Ask your doctor when you might see some improvement!.

And if it really does not help, there probably is another that can be tried!. There are a whole bunch of these medications that can be used!.

It takes some effort, stay with it, you are worth it!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the only thing effoxor did for me was give me such bad nightmares that i could not sleep, which added to my depression!. i just stopped taking antidepressants, none of them did me no good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
