hello lovely, i totally understand this!. i first found out i had OCD when i was 13 and my mum didnt believe me!. its not their fault though because this is the age where your most likely to go through 'phases', often parents find it hard to deal with things like this!. im now 16 and about to start treartment, and my parents now know, things do get easy but you have to be patient!. i totaly understand how you feel though huni and its so hard!.

have a look at this site and theres a forum there where you can talk to other people with OCD!. it is really helpful adn everyone is so friendly!. you can openly talk about your symptoms and ask any questions you may need!. also as said before read book, that can really help!. you can get some self-help books but still medical help is the main thing!.
hope i have helped you and if you manage to get on the site let me know!.

Hi

Please use this link to the Mind website

Understanding OCD:
http://www!.mind!.org!.uk/Information/Bookl!.!.!.

the information is easy to read and understand!. If possible it may help if you can get your parents to read this as well, they may gain some understanding of what you are trying to deal with!.

At 14 you can make an appointment to see your GP on your own, you don't have to be accompanied by your parents!. Perhaps you could take someone else with you who you trust!?

Another suggestion would be to contact your local mental health charity:

http://www!.mind!.org!.uk/Mind+in+your+area!.!.!.

the one I work for has a Young Persons Service, ask if the one near you does too!.

They are easy to access and you don't have to be referred by anyone else!. They have lots of knowledge and understanding and will be able to offer support and information!.

Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, do you go to the pediatrician a lot!? If so, I would talk to your doctor when you're having your regular school physical, and just tell him/her your concerns!. They will be able to talk to your parents about what you should do!.

You can also talk to your counselor at school, and have him/her talk to your parents!. A talk from a professional might help them realize that OCD is serious, and needs attention!.

If it doesn't really seem like an option to get professional help at this point, try getting this:

http://www!.amazon!.com/OCD-Workbook-Break!.!.!.

I've known a lot of people who have used that workbook, and it really has changed their lives as far as OCD!. I have OCD, too, but I've not tried the workbook because I have regular psychiatric care!.

It isn't expensive, and it might help while you try and convince your parents!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you have a therapist or someone who can diagnose you professionally (perhaps a school psychologist), they can speak to your parents!. i have OCD but luckily for me, my parents have always believed me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

go to your doctor, ask to be referred to a psychiatrist for assessment, then he/she will, if youve got it, refer to a cognitive behaviour therapist for treatmentWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have ocd (not very badly though) and my parents listen to me!.!.!. why arent your parents listening!? and how much of a problem is it to your daily life!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would see a psychiatrist and maybe he can put you on something if you explain all your symptoms!. Most likely an antidepressant like paroxetine would probably help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey i have ocd, um you could get medicine for it!.!.!. ~xoxo ally*Www@Answer-Health@Com
