Is he bipolar?!

Question: Is he bipolar!?
My friend Brad is sad all the time!. He comes over to our house to hang out with my brother, but he usually ends up going off by himself to draw or just sit there!. Sometimes he talks to me and my friends, and he's really nice and cool, but kind of not there, like zoned out if you know what i mean!. People say that he acts like he's bipolar!. What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I have a son who is bipolar and he's anything but shy and recluse!. He's very outgoing and has a ton of friends!. When he's manic he talks so much you can't get him to be quiet even long enough to eat!. Usually it's brought on by stress!.
Sounds more like your brother's friend is either bored, depressed or ADD!. That's attention deficit disorder without the hyperness!. Could be he wants to be friends with your friends, as in meeting girls!. OK, watch him and see if you pick up on this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he's sad all the time, its not bipolar but it could be depression!. If he sometimes goes very loud and over-confident, with heightened senses and insomnia, followed by a crash of despair, then it could be bipolar!. Perhaps you should talk to him, and find out if something has happened recently to make him like this, or encourage him to talk about his feelings!. If your stil at school, you could ask the opnion of a teacer who knows him, or tell the school nurse that you're worried about him!.
I think its great that you're looking out for him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That seems like mood swings!. No, actually, it just seems like he has a 'peculiar' behaviour!.

Bi-polar referrs to more extreme mood swings!. It is when the person can be very, very depressed for a time period, then suddenly become extremely happy and bubbly and exuberant, then after a while, they get very down again!. It's very erratic sometimes!.

Each mood interval can last a variety of time period!. There are some people who have mood intervals each lasting a few minutes, while others may have it lasting a few weeks at a time!.

Brad doesn't sound like that!. He just seems a bit moody, that's all!. He's not hyper nor seriously depressed by the looks of it!. People with bi-polar can go from laughing hysterically to bursting into violent tears just like *snaps fingers* THAT!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sadness and being Bipolar are not synonymous!. What you are describing sounds nothing like manic depression to me!. I would need more of his characteristics in order for me to give an accurate assessment of what mental criteria he would fall under but with the given information I believe the guy might just be a little weird!.

And being weird is a good thing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hard to tell but, sounds like whatever it is you can help!. Find something Brad likes and get invlovled in his world!. Don't push him, just be their to listen if he opens up!. Maybe he just needs to find someone to vent to!.

A friend in need is a friend indeed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
