i have social anxiety as well!. it may be different for me since i am only 18 and work as a MOD/lifeguard!. i have had the same job for the past four years!. it was difficult to find and the interview just about killed me, but i got the job because of my qualifications and hard work ethic!. it was very difficult for me at first!. i remember the people i worked with my first summer remembered me the second summer as the girl who didnt talk!.!.!. that is after they figured out that i wasnt a newbie!. it was hard to show up every day but i stuck through it because i was too scared to speak to my boss to quit!. it has taken me four years of medication, psychiatrists, hard work and a lot of panic to be able to speak semi-comfortably with my co workers!. the best advice i could give you is to just stick with it!. give medication a chance (along with help from a psycologist) to work!. think of every day as a learning experience of how to deal with your social anxiety on a daily basis in a certain situation!. it has worked really well for me!. i hope that this helps you even just a little bit :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

First, please make sure that you are taking your meds for at least 6 weeks before giving up on any one medication!. Second, yes, I also have a social anxiety disorder (diagnosed 20 years ago), feeling awkward and shy, even though there is no logical reason to feel this way!. I have left jobs because it became too much to interact with others!. This is a really disabling condition, however, it can be helped with a combination of meds (I take diazepam 2x a day) and counseling!. Don't rely on the meds alone, because you also need a support person that is trained to ask you the right questions to help you adjust your thought patterns!. Counseling really, really helped me! Popping a pill is not the easy answer, without working at it in counseling!. Also, people closest to you are often not going to understand even though you wish they could be the support system you need!. You are better off finding an objective third person to speak with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

psychiatrists are con artists!. they dont have a clue what theyre doing, so i wouldnt trust them, in my opinion social anxiety disorder is something you need to cure yourself!. medications just mask the problem!. im shy too but i wouldnt say i have any type of mental illness!. and im not just making this up, ive been forced to see a psychiatrist and was told i have all these mental illnesses and then they tried to give me some bs test that wouldve cost over a thousand dollars (that insurance may or may not have covered)!. so i just ignore everything that comes out of their mouths, theyre in it for money and have no scientific evidence to back up what theyre doing!. social anxiety disorder is no different than being afraid of dark, the only way you get over it is to go in a dark room!. the reason people have social anxiety disorder isnt because theyre afraid of meeting people its because theyre afraid of what peopel think!. once you realize that what some dude at your job thinks of you wont affect your life in any way, you may be able to get over it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First make sure you are seeing a psychiatrist!. Go to the doc and tell him what is going on!. You may need different meds or a dosing adjustment!. Take it from me I went through numerous medications before finding the correct ones, and dosing!.
Also go talk to your supervisor and explain to them what is going on!. Take them some paperwork on S!.A!.D!. They are more apt to believe you amd help you!.
Take something also, if you can, to prove to them you have this!.
I have done all this with my employer and she has helped me out immensily!.
Also, if they are aware of the situation, you are protected by the American's With Disability Act!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
