What are things you do to feel better/stop from being depressed?!


Question: What are things you do to feel better/stop from being depressed!?
i feel like as far as i come from the person i was, i've turned into a horrible person!. !. !. what are things that you do to think positive and get going again in the right direction!?
i was thinking of going to a doctor for help, but they didnt help last time, and i can feel myself starting to slip down into a deep depression and i dont want to feel that bad again (i am depressed, but it comes in cycles, sometimes it could be weeks!. some times it could be months)

Hey, I have been there, done that!.!.!. still do it!.!. still suffer!.

First of all, it does get better!. I swear it does!. Even if you did nothing it would still get better!.

Here is what I have found to help!. The first thing is recognizing that something is not working!. You have done that!.

The second thing is asking for help!.
You have done that as well!.

Now comes the rest!.

You have asked for help, like I said, that is a good thing!. Reaching out to others who have the same hardships lets you know you are not alone in this!. For some people that is enough to get them through!.

For the rest of us, we need a little more help!. The next step is to talk to a professional!. A Social Worker, Psycologist or a Psychiatrist!. Just be honest with them!. (for instance, if you have fantasies of killing yourself or others, let them know that!.!. that kinda thing is fairly normal!.)

The thing that I have most found to help me is just the simple act of seeking help!. Just trying to feel better, helps me to feel better!.

You should go to your doctor!. If the doctor tries you on meds that don't work, go back and tell the doctor that they aren't working and get something else!. Ask the doctor if the meds come in generic!.

One thing that really helps me, is getting outside in the sun!. I make a big glass of iced tea and just go sit on the porch and listen to the wind chimes!. Sometimes I will sit out there and whistle, heh, it is hard to be depressed when you are whistling and have a glass of tea!.

Surround yourself with people and things that you love and that make you happy!.

Put on a good movie or read a good book!. Distract yourself from your negative thoughts!.

Find yourself little projects to do, and finish them!. Finishing them will give you a boost in confidence and help you feel better!.

Also, when you're feeling good, make a list of things that make you happy!. Look at the list when you're feeling down and it will give you a boost as well!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well you should go to a doctor or a therapist that will make things easier and it won't be as easier to fall into those cycles!. Find something that makes you feel good!. Watch one of those stupid funny movies like Superbad or Borat, lol!. I mean, it's hard to be depressed when you watching a hairy man in a bathing suit!. to overcome depression the most important thing to do, divert yourself from reallity!.
when you have low self-esteem its hard to belive in yourself!.
therefore you have to focus on others and other things, that keep you level mentally, do what ever it takes to live a life that revolves around things that keep your mind off your problems!.

Focus on making good decisions in your life!. Maintain a good work (and/or school) ethic!. Eat right, excercise, involve yourself in a new hobby (ie!. sports, drawing, group activities)!. Surround yourself with positive and loving family members and friends!.!.!.!.and the ones that make you feel bad!.!.!.avoid them!. Get a pet! Animals lower blood pressure and have positive affects on our emotions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had the same problem, and the only thing that helped me was to go to the doctor, explain to him what was going on, and get prescribed some anti-depressants!. I have been on them for 3 months now, and I feel incredible!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Keep yourself busy!. Start getting involved with activities you normally wouldn't do!. Go out with your friends more often!. Make a list of things you want to do to improve!. Maybe try joining a gym or club!. Start writing in a journal everyday!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go on walks!. Find a good friend to talk to!. Eat healthy!. Volunteer (I go to the local Humane Society and walk dogs)!.

Sometimes you can't get yourself out, so you just have to muddle through!. But you should always try!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have the same problems!. I force myself to get out of the house and hang out with my friends!. I go to the mall just to shop or go to the bar!. Just get out of the house!. That alone will improve things a ton!. ExerciseWww@Answer-Health@Com

listen to music, pray and think positive!. my fiance just passed away on the 6th, yes it is very hard i miss him, but i know am gonna meet him again in heaven so these r the stuff i do to keep my mind off of it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

first determine what is the real cause of the depression!. then figure out if it is really worth being depressed over!.
then realize "IT'S NOT"

Lots of people do different things!. But the thing that work for me the best is BASEBALL!. Its my hobby and my passion!. Try to find a hobby that you really love and are good at!. Nothing feels better than being really good at something!. I hope i have helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

get out of the house once in awhile
exercise,walks,music,or talking to people

First, there are some who believe depression is related to the chemicals we add to our bodies that conflict with our natural body chemicals!. You can't "make yourself happy" if your brain is out of balance!. Check for these things that may be causing it: caffeine (pop, tea, coffee, chocolate, some pain killers), perfumes/fragrances (in shampoos, lotions, soaps, CAT LITTER! etc!.) of any kind, aged cheeses, mold (in your home), other chemicals for instance, if you drive a freeway long distances, junk food in general with the preservatives and pesticides, other habits: smoking, drugs, alcohol!. These chemicals can mess with your brain causing depression!. Is there any pattern of these that corresponds to your pattern of depression!?

I used to have a problem with caffeine!. Doctors told me I was "just depressed" but nothing helped!. I ended up by chance reading a book about caffeine and some of these above mentioned products!. I no longer experience any depression UNLESS I drink or eat something with caffeine!. With the coffee addicts worldwide, it doesn't surprise me depression is an epidemic!. Perfume is another one that messes with my head!. These might not be the answers for you, but it's worth a check!Www@Answer-Health@Com
