Can you dream while you are passed out?!

Question: Can you dream while you are passed out!?
~if u don't want to read this u don't have to!.!.!. sorry it's so long!. but i would like to know if someone can dream while passed out even though in ur sleep it takes like 45 or 2 hours or something until u start the dreaming phase (REM)

i've never actually passed out/fainted before until today!. well, i think i passed out!.!.!. this is weird i know, but i had the hick-ups and wanted to stop them so i held my breath!. i started feeling weak and then my hearing went away and then i just couldn't hold myself up anymore so then i fell over, but i was able to catch myself on my hands before my head got whacked on the floor!. i didn't hear myself fall, but i knew what had happened because i didn't pass out all the way!.!.!. or at least only for a second!. i still had my hick-ups so i held my breath again, but i wanted to see if i could actually pass out!. (however weird that may sound) so i did it again, but i still hadn't "fully" passed out!. so then i remember trying it again, but i must have had this weird day dream/dream because i remember talking to someone and then all of a sudden i'm staring at my radio (which is on the floor, right in front of my head) i sit up and my face feels sore (like i've been laying on it weirdly for a while) and i know i wouldn't have "tried to pass out" so near to something that i would have hit my head on so all i can figure is that i really pass out this time!. after this long story my question is: can you dream while you are passed out!? i thought in ur sleep it took like 45 minutes until u started REM sleep (when ur dreaming takes place) also, what could b wrong with me if i could pass out after holding my breath for -no joke- 3 seconds!? it was while i was standing up quickly as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, I'm going to admit right off that I didn't read the whole thing :)!.

But, I pretty much know what you are asking and from what I understand dreaming while passed out is highly unlikely!. I've blacked out while playing tennis before (heat exhaustion) and basically, when you suddenly go unconcious (faint, gray out, black out, or get knocked out) you will not dream!. The reason is that when you go unconcious like that it's because your body is shocked, damaged or sick in such a way that your brain does everything it can to keep you alive!. Passing out is an emergency response!. Shutting down your body including your conciousness enables your brain to devote all of your energy into keeping the vital systems going (heart, lungs, etc)!. You don't go into REM sleep and the brain will waist no energy on you dreaming!. So no, you don't dream when you are passed out!.

If you were to actually "pass out" from getting drunk, it's because you have been alcohol poisened or close to it!. You will not dream!. If you "dream" when you are "passed out" then you didn't really go unconscious, then you just fell asleep because the alcohol made you tired!. That's not the same as actually passing out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes when i get drunk and pass out i dreamWww@Answer-Health@Com

I passed out just before crashing on a motor bike!. I immediately had the sensation of leaving my body and going upwards to the clouds above!. Then I was back in my body again!. That's the short of the story!. In other words, the person you spoke to might have been other than just a dream!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
