Question: Discontinuing Zoloft!? Side Effects!?
I have been discontinuing my Zoloft for about a week!. I currently feel just "really f'ing wierd"!. My head is always spinning it seems when I stand up, and it's not a bad pass out feeling, but it's more like I feel that I'm on groovy pain killers without the groove!. I also feel like my heart is racing at times!. It all started after stopping the Zoloft!. Just wondering if anyone else has ever went through this!. I'm kinda tired of feeling like a space cadet!. if I go more than a day or two without my zoloft (ie when I forget to take it), then I start to get that dizzy, spacey feeling too!.!.!. its MUCH worse from paxil though, ugh!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have been taking Zoloft for 11 years and tried to stop it cold turkey once!. I went suicidal and completely crazy!.
If you stop ANY anti depressants like that then you will get side effects!.
If I was you I would go to your doctor and ask him/her to sort out a program where you are weaned off of them VERY gradually!. The more gradual it is the less extreme the side effects are!. Although you may still get a few but it wont be half as bad as just quitting them cold turkey!.

For one did you consult your doctor!? My son was on Zoloft and when ever we put him on a med vacation we had to wing him off!. also, i eventually took my son completely off of the Zoloft but it took several times until he did well off of it!. but anytime you come off of a med that you have been taking a while especially something like Zoloft it will have side effects!. talk to your doctor is your best bet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I've been on zoloft for 12 years and it has finally pooped out so I don't have to worry about discontinuing!. A couple years ago though when I tried going off of it I couldn't!. So, I'm sure it will be hard for anyone to go off it!. You have to go off it really slowly and perhaps simultaneously switch to another ssri!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
First off, do not d/c an antidepressant on your own!.!. You need to consult with the prescribing doctor and you need to have the dosage decreased and be weaned off of it over a period of time determined by the dr!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You should never stop a anti depressant cold turkey!. Usually a Dr!. will slowly back you off them for the very reason you are describing!. These are side affects of going cold turkey off of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes I did, the doctor slowed the weening process!. Don't quit it on your own things could get a lot worse and more dangerous, call the doctor right away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
