First of all, relax; you're going to be okay!. Take a deep breath and let's look at things piece by piece!.

You've been put on a medication that's known to have weird side effects, like feeling unusually happy or euphoric, feeling like your mood is changing back and forth without reason, or being plagued with anxiety or "panic attacks"!. When I started prozac I couldn't stop smiling - but i didn't *feel* happy - it drove me nuts!. But there's good news - whatever side effects you're going through due to the prozac will subside!.

Now, lets look at where you're at!. You're depressed!. Really depressed!. You're on new meds!. You get the creeps!. You feel your mood swinging back and forth and you can't control it!. You get worried, maybe downright freaked!. You cut to feel better and that's going to give you a feeling of relief and sometimes it can make you giddy - I'm sure you know this!. But that's five (very) different states of mind, and can even happen in a single day!. But - this doesn't mean your have Bipolar Disorder!. It means you're going through a lot of stuff right now, and things are messy and probably scary, and I've been there too!.

However, I *do* have bipolar disorder, and I'll tell you a few things: First, manic-depression isn't something that can happen out of the blue!. It's a genetic disorder that you have from birth, and it's a gradual progression that usually takes until you're in your thirties before it can be properly diagnosed!. Also, the things we're diagnosed with are not necessarily the things we think we have; Never in a million years would I have diagnosed myself as being bipolar!. Thank God I'm not a doctor, right!? So try and relax a little, let your doctor know what's going on, and know that there's no point in worrying about whether you have "this" or "that"!. In the end, the most important thing is not what you are, but who you are, you know what I mean!?

So please, take it easy, try to relax, and see your doctor (like, today!. Okay!?)!.

Everything's going to be okay :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know what I have!. I have a sense of normality, then I will go into a deep depression followed by a void feeling of worthlessness!. I will finally consider ending my life which I attempted in numerous occasions but pathetically failed or backed out at the last breath!. When I realize my self worth, I will go back to my "normal" self!. I have been repeating this cycle for many years now and I'm afraid I might go thru with it one of these days!. If you've just been put on the Prozac, that's what's causing the mood swings!. If you've been on it a while, it probably is bipolar and you need your medication changed, or other medications may be added!. Do not attempt suicide again, please!. :[ You need to keep in constant contact ith your shrink!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well you do have some serious issuies but it doesnt sound like bipolar because most people with bipoalr self-medicate by doing drugs or taking medicine that wasn't prescribed to them!.
just seems like a side effect of the prozac to me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's not Bipolar if you're on medication, and that's why i won't ever take it!. It is only effective for a certain amount of time before it stops effecting you, and once it does you'll feel worse then before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

could be bpolar!.
could be they you aren't taking the Prozac at the right timing!. or right dose for you!.

CALL YOUR DOC and discuss the downs ASAP!. TODAY if you have a phone number!. even talking to someone at a suicide hotline might help you deal with the lows before they hit!.

this won't take the place of talking to your doc and getting the meds adjusted, but you can write down how you feel when you are high so that when you are at the lows you may be able to see that the lows don't last forever!.

Your brain chemicals are really going up and down!. so sorry for the bad parts - i've been there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well my sister had this problem and she was bipolar!.!.!.!. :-[
She went to the hospital for trying to kill her self several times, but all she needed was to talk with sombody about her problems!.
Docters say that Bipolar is something that u have already, but the truth is that you build it up, by
1!.)stressing out!.
2!.)getting pissed off at anything - Relax :-]
3!.)or just lack of attension!.

so i suggest to try to talk with somebody about your problems or practising the old count to ten routine when u flip out

i hope that i helped you in any way!. Take care!.!.

I have read a few books about Prozac!. Prozac is really good for a lot of people BUT I have read that if you have any history of bipolar disorder in your family you should NOT take Prozac!. It is people with a genetic tendancy to bipolar disorder that can develop mania on Prozac but unfortunately a lot of doctors don't seem to know about this!. You need to see your doctor and try a different medication for your depression!. You probably need to take one of the older type antidepressants called the tricyclics which unfortunately have some other annoying side effects because it sounds like the SSRI's will cause you to have mania!. See I'm guessing that like some of my friends who have bipolar in their family you are getting bipolar symptoms from being on an SSRI get on a tricyclic instead and hopefully the bipolar symptoms will go away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, just side effects!.

This is what happens to me,

I hear things, like if water is dripping, the water will sound like laughing, then crying and then music or something!. Or I will start bawling my eyes out for no reason, then laugh like a lunatic, then grow paranoid, then hostile, then get confused!. When I close my eyes during these times I cant tell if they're closed or not and the panic grows more and I cant tell if I am standing or sitting or even what the heck I am doing!. Sometimes see I things and I am very apathetic to others and their needs!. When I do get sleep after these episodes are over, its about 24 or more hours later!. And I only sleep for about 2 to 4 hours!. And am awake for another 24 hours!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
