Question: What would you suggest I do!? 10pts for the BEST ANSWER!. Details below
Ok!. So, I have looked deep down in my heart, and I know that I have a passion for the arts!. I dream of performing in theaters at night either playing music or acting!. Since I was a child I would draw cartoons, play my Playskool keyboard and lead in school plays!.

BUT HERE IS THE PROBLEM!.

I know that artists rarely get payed money!.

My mom is set on me becoming some type of medical doctor!. (LIKE REALLY IS SET!. SHE WOULD BECOME TEARY IF I SPOKE OF ANYTHING ELSE!.)

It might be interesting, but I really don't think I could do that for the rest of my life!.

HERE IS THE OTHER PROBLEM!.

I WANT MONEY!.

Becoming a performing artist just doesn't cut it!. My family needs that money, but how do i stay true to what I want to do!?

The only reason I am considering becoming a doctor is because It can help my family financially, and we would have no more problems

Is there any job out there that has at least some of my interests, and is a good amount of pay!?

10pts for the BEST ANSWER!. please help me!. they gotta be some motivational speakers here!. what do i do!? thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been in your spot before!.

First of all, please realize that your decision will affect you for the rest of your life!. If you choose to be a doctor, it will take 16 years of your life just to become a general medical doctor!. During your residency, you will be forced to work 16 hours a day for 4 years!. When you graduate you will be competing with other medical students for the small pool of jobs here in the U!.S!. There aren't many jobs because of the lack of medical insurance in this country!. Just because there are alot of listings in the paper doesn't mean that there are alot of jobs!. The medical job market is an employer's market right now!. If anyone tells you that the medical industry is doing fantastic, don't believe them!. It's a lie!. The industry is rotting from the inside out!.

Another thing: You won't be able to focus on music, acting, or any other performance art during this time!. All of your energy spent on the patients you attend!.

If you choose a job that make you unhappy, you will be at more risk for depression, alcoholism, and could even abuse others around you!. I believe domestic violence and depression has their roots in unfulfilled wishes and not being able to achieve one's dreams!.

Regarding your family, they will need to find their own way to make money!. It sounds like they want to use you as a bank when in fact you are a human being!. Don't feel guilty that you can't help them!. You aren't in a financial position to help them at all!. If the worst happens, tell them to apply to DSHS (welfare) or SSI (Social Security Benefits)!.

Regarding your mom, please realize that she has already lived her life and made her career choice when she was young!. She isn't immortal!. One day, she will die and where will that leave you if you choose the doctor's job!? Will you be happy!?

Finally, please remember that your mental survival is at stake!. I say that you should follow your dreams, whether your family likes it or not!. Good luck!

I feel that a true artist wouldn't worry too much about payment!. Rather as an artist you should be willing to share your works w/the world even if you do not sell!. In your case I would suggest that you go to med school and become a Dr!. Use your art as a "hobby" to relax your mind and lessen the stress you may be feeling!. To me It sound like being a Dr is the best answer and art should be your side job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest getting a good day job that makes money and then join a community theater, take classes at an art studio, join a band!. It is the best of both worlds!. Some jobs you can combine!. I am a registered nurse who loves psychology and art!. So, I am a psychiatric registered nurse who works at a partial hospitalization program and does art therapy!. Being an RN pays the bills but I haven't stop doing the things I love!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depending upon what type of performing arts, you could make lots of money!. Or almost none!. You could become a performing arts professor at a college!. They pay for that is fairly good!. $60,000 or more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, it's ridiculous that you are even considering the notion of spending all the time money and persistence it takes to be become a medical professional when you know you don't want to do it!.

Theres many things you can do to incorporate an art career into a successfull wealthy life!.

If you don't end up studying art in school, try to find something you enjoy that is practical!. I understand the need for security and wealth!. But don't drop your dreams!. You can always work for theaters or museums doing finances or PR!. Heck, you can even own a theater or museum!.

If worse comes to worse you can just make all the electives and clubs you join in school art related!.

Join a theater club, paint in your free time, join a church choir, join the opera company in your area, get on the board of local museums, teach piano lessons on the side, paint and draw and color in your free time!. You live in the USA for petes sake, there are so many activities and opportunites out there for your artistic side to be satisfied with!.

And if you have some amazing talent, go for it! Just be smart and keep a backup plan ready!. And about your mother, sit down and have a talk with her about what makes you happy!. You both seem to share a want for you to be successful so having a talk should smooth things over!.

Good Luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know lots of people who got an education, work in some kind of profession and do some kind of artsy thing in their spare time!.

I tried to be a full time musician for years and I was a miserable failure!. I went back to college and got a job in health care!. I still play music sometimes; I have even made my own CDs and sold them on the Internet and so on!. I have gotten royalty checks for my songs that have been registered with BMI; but believe me, it's nohere near enough money to make a living--I haven't received a royalty check in years!. I know other musicians who are more successful than me, but all of them have reqular jobs in addition to music!.

A few artistic people will good enough and gain enough popularity to make a living, and some will even get rich!. But most people will need to do something else to make money!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to lead your own life and follow your heart!. Try joining a community theater!. You can also pursue the arts while having another job (probably no time if you become a doctor)!.

If your family has no money how are you going to pay and get through medical school!? It is nice if you can take care of your family however they should be able to take care of themselves as well!.

Try looking into art colleges and join art clubs!. You have to find something you have passion for or you will never be happy!. And money doesn't always make you happy if you are doing something you hate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Identify a day job that interests you much more than being a doctor!. Double major in that and in the arts!. Get a job that pays and perue your interest in the arts at night and on the weekends!. Music is not that hard to do like this!. Acting can be a little tougher, but still doable!. If you get a real break, then go for it!. Living your mom's dream doing something you do not like will not lead you to a life you want to live!. Money is not everything!.

Sometimes you have to compromise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
