Question: Would this psychological technique improve my mental health!?
Every time I hear something which raises my anxiety, or causes me to become depressed, out of fear of those emotions, I run off, and quickly put on a comedy film, or a more lighthearted program!. Is this the proper way of avoiding these emotions!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's not a psychological technique, that's just distraction, denial even!. Not dealing with the causes of your anxiety, or at least trying to recognise them, is definitely likely to allow the anxiety to grow worse!. At some point you will be in a situation where you can't distract yourself and then you will have no way of coping at all and I can tell you from experience, that's very dangerous!.

As mentioned above, seeking help from a counsellor or psychologist is probably a good idea at this point, cognitive behavioural therapy is often quite helpful in cases like this (CBT-not scary, just a way of thinking about stuff)!.
