Husband told his parents what I was diagnosed with!.!.!.anxiety disorder!. He didn't ask me if it was okay first!. Shouldn't there be privacy when it's mental health!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
That was insensitive for him to do but he probably didn't intend for it to hurt you!.!.!.!. but I would have been angry also!. I will say this though, of any mental health "problem" an anxiety disorder is about the most innocuous, innocent thing there is!. I can't conceive of anyone thinking badly about someone that has an anxiety disorder!. I can only imagine that people would have empathy!. He probably told them so as to be protective of you so that they would try to be kind and understanding!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Since you're upset then it is something he probably should have considered your feelings about with telling his parents!. Then again, even though your diagnosis effects you, it also impacts him!. He probably wanted his parents to know, because it probably has worried or upset him, and they are a source of support for him!. If you are on good terms with them then hopefully they will be helpful and understanding!.

Embarrassment is pretty common, since there is a stigma with mental illness!. I can totally understand being upset, because it is a deeply personal thing, but I can also understand him telling his folks!.

I'd talk to him and be totally clear that if anything changes that you want to decide if they are told or what they are to be told!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Surely you should have this discussion with your husband!?

You have the right to privacy in anything, but it's up to you to talk to your husband about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
