Question: Dealing with my dad's porn addiction
It really upsets me when he downloads porn off of Limewire!. He's starting to get into child porn too-which most people say it's illegal to watch child porn!. Too much space is being taken up in our local drive (there was only 3 MB left at one time) and our computer is being infected with viruses!. He wastes his money on blank CD's to burn porn and watch it in his room!. It drives me crazy because he's still married and yet he does these types of things every day!. I'm afraid to confront him about it since he gets mad often!. My mom already knows about his porn addiction and yet she can't do anything about it!. I know it's not any of my business to know what he's doing on his computer, but our computer is in our living room and he watches porn in front of my family! I really want to uninstall Limewire since we'll get charged if we download anything off it!. However, it is most likely that he'll be in outrage and blame it all on me or my little sister since we share the computer as well!. I don't want my dad to face criminal charges or end up in prison for downloading copyrighted porn!. He's the the only dad I got! So if any of you have any smart tips, go ahead and answer!. Aside from talking to your dad and explaining to him how this affects you and your family, there isn't much you can do!. You are basically still a child living under his roof!. Your dad will just have to face the consequences of his action when it does happen and it will sooner or later and hopefully when you are gone and have your own place to live!. I want you to really think about this for a second!. If he is doing this in front of all of you, do you really think it will stop there!? Do you think your sister is safe alone with him!? You may be saving her from being molested (because people that look at child porn often don't stop just at looking!. it escalates)!. Also, he sounds like he is crying out to be caught!. I am so sorry that this is happening to you!. Please be brave and protect your sister if you are having a hard time calling someone for your own sake!. Honestly, there isn't anything else you can do besides call the police!. It's not like he is trying to help himself!. And what he is doing is illegal!. A father is supposed to protect his children!. Get rid of the computer, say it broke, honestly, it is one of the worst tools invented as far as access to porn!. I don't think you will get him to stop looking at it otherwise!. Have your mom give him an ultimatum, and tell him that the kids know what he is doing, and they are upset by it!. Have her tell him child porn is illegal and people are getting busted everyday for it, it is no joke he could get in trouble if he keeps looking at it!. Because it sounds like a demon is controlling his life!. Especially if he doesnt at the very least feel ashamed about it!. But seriously, pray about it!.
You'd be doing him a favor by telling a pastor, SCHOOL CONSUELOR, his parents and your mom!. B/c it sounds like this is controling his life!. Make a gameplan with your mom!. Sit down and plan out how to stop this!.

Absolutely hands down call the cops!. If he is into CHILD PORN that means you or your little siblings could be victims of rape!. Your dad is sick/mentally ill and NEEDS treatment!. Sit him down with the family and have a bit of an intervention!. Tell him how it makes you sad to see him do that because it takes away from family time and time for him and your mom to be together!. I am SO Sorry you are going through this!. Aside from your dad's own illness (porn addiction and possible interests in child molestation), you and your sibling are being abused by this behavior - since he watches porn in front of you!. You also mentioned you're afraid of making him angry!. You may want to find a therapist - maybe the school counselor can help - and talk to them about what's going on!. This may help your family make some healthier changes, but would at least give you someone to talk to about this and maybe teach your some ways to cope!. This isn't going to be easy, not at all, and it should have never fallen on your shoulders!. I don't think anyone can guarantee your father won't be in trouble with the law because of the child porn - but if he DOES get in trouble, it's not your fault (even if you're the one who brought it to light)!. He should have never gone down that road, or at least gotten himself some help!. It's not fair that you can't seek help because of his problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
