What disorder is this?!

Question: What disorder is this!?
This is about my friend!. It seems like he had a total personality change about a year ago!. He's 18!. Do you think he has a disorder!?
He did temporary self-harm!. Not anymore!.

Several months ago he imagined me saying things!. He would reply to me with off the wall things in response to me, even though I never said anything!. This and similar things happened for a few days, then stopped!. This has happened for a long time, I don't think he has hallucinated since then!.

He's paranoid sometimes!. He thinks I'm lying about simple things or believes people aren't as nice as they seem to be!.
He's a suddenly aggressive person!. He once punched my friend in the face for something little and started laughing and crying at the same time!.
He lies a lot!.

One day his friend came to his house and told him he got in a really bad wreck, the friend was crying, but my friend's first reaction was to laugh at him!.

What's wrong with him, or is there nothing wrong with him at all!?
Please know that he isn't like this all the time!. There are times when he's just fine, he can seem fine for a long time but sometimes he seems to be unstable!.
There are probably some of you who have seen this question before!. Sorry that I keep on reposting it, I just want a lot of opinions!.
I try to get him to see the counselor about this but he refuses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The symptoms you are describing sound closest to a thought disorder such as schizophrenia!. It is a psychotic disorder which is very different than something like bipolar disorder or depression!. Schizophrenia requires medication and commonly appears in men between high school and college!.

It is characterized by visual and auditory hallucinations (seeing and hearing things that aren't there), delusions (believing things that are far from reality), paranoia, sudden acts of rage and violence, and a general disconnect from reality!. Schizophrenics are not able to connect with others on an emotional level!.

Obviously, your friend would need to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist!. It's impossible to diagnose someone over the internet!. I just want to point out that a lot of drugs (especially cocaine, meth, and PCP) mimic schizophrenia and if he uses drugs, I would encourage him to stop them before he sees a mental health professional!.

Again, it is common for a lot of these mental health issues to arise around his age, so it's important that he gets evaluated before he goes into a severe psychotic state!.

Best wishes to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds potentially like Schizophrenia, but you'd need to see a psychiatrist for a proper diagnosis!.

That's something I would definitely recommend, given the symptoms!.

It would be worthwhile seeing a GP too - sometimes mental issues have physical roots!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like a possible form of schizophrenia!. look it up on wikipedia!.

i would say he would be either manic depressive (bi-polar)
