Do you think this is a normal reaction?!

Question: Do you think this is a normal reaction!?
I was trying to talk to my mum about periods, because I thought it was alright to talk about that sort of thing, with a mother, and she suddenly said, "I have a pain in the chest," like she was going to have a heart attack, and said do you want to hear something bad!? and she shared with me a yucky story about kids in her school, which actually disturbed me!. I didn't realise that I was doing the wrong thing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You were most definitely NOT doing the wring thing!. You are a woman yes!? then you should be able to talk about other women that are close to you about one of the most important things about being a woman!.

Periods are a part of life, they are not "yukky" as they enable you to bear children and thus making periods important!
Ancient civilizations used to revere women because of the simple fact that they were the life giver (personally i believe they had the right idea)

I was never able to talk to my mother about periods simply because we were not that close but luckily i had (still have) great friends who i could tell everything to!. Perhaps your mum doesn't enjoy talking about those types of things and if this is true you should find someone to turn to such as a sister or friend as it is important to be able to talk about these things and ask questions!.
again i repeat you were NOT doing the wrong thing!.

I mean I can't really say without more information which I don't really expect you to give lol!.
It may have just been a coincedence that your mum had a pain in her chest, or she may have been a little stressed and didn't know what to say!.
What is this yucky story!? I can only assume that it either was really gross, or that you may of just thought so (and it could be normal) but that's ok since periods quite frankly are gross!.

Also what do you mean by you didn't realise you were doing the wrong thing!? By talking to your mum about periods!? Or did she suggest something to you!?

This seems like it could be a normal reaction, that is if the yucky story wasn't so yucky and the chest pains were a coincedence!.
You should ask your mum if she felt comfortable talking about it!.

Hope this helps!.

Depending on the approach you used, i would not tell if it was normal or not!.

May be you did not bring up the topic at the Wright time!. It seems you had not also studied your mom well enough to tell when she can take what conversation!. But at least this was a good step a head!.

Keep trying, until you discover when its easier to talk to her about whatever topic of your interest!.

Good luck dearWww@Answer-Health@Com

u didnt do anything bad!. maybe ur mum was trying to divert the conversation caz she was awkward talking about it with u!? i have no idea!. i dont really know what to tell u, if u wanna try talking about it with ehr again then give it a go, but u can always find someone else like a friend or a sister or a relative!. or u could always ask her what was going on before if ur curious i guess!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your not doing the wrong thing talking to your mum about your periods!. Maybe she was just having a bad day!. Mums are usually ok talking about periods, but if you are the first girl she may just need some time to adjust!.

I don't quite get why she shared a disturbing story!.!.!.!.maybe something weird happened when she started her period!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow!.!.!. her reaction seems really odd!. I don't think you did anything wrong!. Maybe she felt awkward with the subject and didn't quite know how to react!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
