People on Lithium for years, if you got Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto, even a nodule!

Question: People on Lithium for years, if you got Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto, even a nodule, did you stop!?
If you found that Lithium was the best medication for your mood, whether you are bi-polar or to boost your anti-depressant, were you able to continue on the Lithium, and keep the thyroid side effects under control with Synthroid!? The only time I felt well psychologically was when I took Lithium!. Neither Lamictal measured up, nor the older Depakote, Topamax, Neurontin, or anti-psychotics, or anti-depressants!. My endocrinologist thinks we could try and work with a higher dose of Synthroid, if I wanted to take Lithium again!. I am on 0!.75 mgs now!. I am so scared!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I've been taking lithium for about 15 years now, and I developed hypothyroidism about 5 months ago!. I have always hated lithium, but the doc insists I continue it (with Depakote) and Synthroid !.50 mg (50 mcg)!. Don't be scared!. As long as you are taking thyroid hormone replacement therapy and getting regular blood work, the docs will take good care of you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
