Question: I'm 15-years-old and I'm scared of the dark, please help!
Not even turning on the light helps!.!.!.!.I need someone with me all the time when I sleep! If I don't I can't get any sleep at all!. I just end up staying awake, not even closing my eyes watching out for I don't even know what!. I always think someone's in my room!.!.!. I don't know if this will help but I was sexually abused when I was younger and I've ptsd!.
Can anybody help me, I've pulled off as many sleepovers as I could but I sleep in a room by myself!. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this!?
Anyway I can stop myself from being scared or having company all the time!? You can laugh and make fun if you like but thanks if anyone serious helps me =) xoxoxWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It makes sense since you were molested!.
I agree that seeing a therapist would be a good idea!.
I also suggest getting a dog or cat to sleep with you or at least a stuffed bear!.
I also like to use a few cute night lights around my room!. One of mine has a Moon & Stars on it and the moon is smiling happy and it puts me in a good mood!.
Also,
Get plenty of exercise during the day!.

Avoid coffee & caffeine before bed!.

Avoid sugar before bed!.

Avoid loud music or scary films before bed!.

Journal about your feelings before bed and pray to your Higher Power or God to take your problems for you so you can sleep!.

Talk to a friend about your feelings each day so you won't bottled stuff up!.

Eat healthy foods, but avoid huge meals before bed!.

Listen to soft music before bed!.

Read some inspirational literature before bed!.

Get some lavender scented pillows!.

Do some deep breathing!.

Do some meditation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am afraid of the dark and i'm 18!. sometimes i'll hear noises and freak out and lay awake scared!. I can't watch movies that are even remotely scary because I won't be able to sleep!.
I would see a therapist or just coach yourself to believe nothing is wrong and you will ok even if it is dark

Keep the lights on, close the door, get headphones and listen to your favorite music, and talk to yourself!.
Remember to think about happy things such as people that love you, falling in love, friends, and nice things rather than thinking about dark thoughts!.
It works for me!!~<3Www@Answer-Health@Com

iam an adult with teenage kids and i still sleep with a nite-lite on!.In
your case it might have a lot to do with being sexually abused!. seek
professional help and ask your guardian angel and God to keep you safe Www@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds like something you should be talking to your family doctor about!. He or she can get you a referral to a therapist if they think it's necessary!. It probably is tied to the abuse!. Did it start up recently or has this always been the case for you!?

I was that way for years after having a sleepover at a cousin's home and the house burned down!. I couldn't sleep without the light in the bathroom on!. Eventually I was able to get used to the darkness again and now I sleep better when the room's dark!.

Do you have a pet!? Or could you possibly get a pet like a dog or cat!? Maybe that would satisfy your need for "company" if the critter could spend the night in the room with you!.

You're not alone and it's not something to be embarrassed about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

uhmm , well , im 13 &im not necessarily scared of the dark ,
but i cant sleep alone !.
i usually need my younger brother or mom !.
but its the fact that it's really quiet at night in my house ,
so i hear everything that goes on , like cracks &dog snoring !.

but if the quietness scares yoo , play a quiet song on yoor iHome or yoor radio [if yoo have no iHome] ,&listen to it til yoo fall asleep !. or yoo can have a family member stay in yoor room until yoo fall asleep , &then they can leave !.

well im not so sure , if i helped or
maybe i did :O

good luuck !Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally understand your situation, I'm not here to make fun of anyone!.

Check your room for that 'someone' that you think is in your room!. Shut your blinds!. Maybe get a cute night light that plugs in to your wall!. Also tell yourself "If I didn't see it in the light, it's not their in the dark!. I know this sounds childish but have a teddy bear to hug, it really helps!. Just remember that you're always safe and God will protect you!

Hope I helped!*Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand this can be a difficult issue, I believe the best solution to this kind of condition is first to seek guidance conseling, possibly therapy for your PTSD, my cousins friend returned from Iraq recently with PTSD from war it was pretty brutal when the fourth of July happened, we had to stay at his house the whole time!. After recieving conseling start small, put a small light in the closet and maybe another nightlight on the other side of the room, so you can see there isnt anything there!. Slowley move from two lights to one, one light to a smaller, one you get it!. I used to be afraid of the dark til I was 12!. I started with two nightlights and now i dont need any!. Another thing I reccoment is if you have any calm songs you like to put them on a CD and loop them or just play while you try to get to sleep, it seriously helped!. Good Luck and hope I helped you :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Night terrors!. They suck!. Every night, even if you KNOW everything
is shut, make sure you lock your window, close the curtains,
close the drapes, lock the doors that should be locked, leave your
closet open, check your closet, check your bathroom, check
your room!.!.!. This will make you feel better that you know for sure!.
Then quietly turn on your portable CD player that runs on AA batteries,
play your favorite CD until you feel to sleepy to listen to the third re-run, put on your best headphones, and
lie in the most comfortable position in your bed!. Get the nightlight
on, and maybe add a couple more!. Check the alarm system
and make sure it's on and secure!. This might make you feel like
a baby, but teddy-bears really do save the day!. :)!. Keep him
and his wife cuddled with you so that you have someone there!.
Some good company with you!. Leave your door open, and make
sure you have a cup of water next to you, it always makes
me feel better to drink some!. It also helps to have a little soothing
sound when the CD is off!. Turn a fan (ceiling fan, small portable
fan!.!.!.) on and listen to it's soothing "woosh" as it makes wind!.
If you don't feel warm, then just turn it to the wall!.
I really hope this helps your night terrors!. It did for me!. :)
Best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
