Matthews answer is excellent!. I will add!.!.here is how I managed them!.
Now that you have had a few of them you know you come out of them
alive!. So the next time you have a panic attack you can say to yourself
this is going to end and I will be alive at the end of it so there is nothing to worry about I just have to hang on until this passes!.
:This too shall pass: Deep breathing slowly slowly Not hyperventilating!.
Get into a cool quiet calm space!. The last thing you need then is a lot of stimulation from rushing people or loud noises!. Place your bare feet on a cool floor or cool grass to ground yourself!. Run cool water over your bare wrists!. Put a cold cloth on your forehead!.
About medication!. In the old days Valium was pretty well the only thing available for calming people down!. Today there are non narcotic
medications made for this condition!. Take heart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you wish to avoid the use of medication (not always the best option) you need to try and figure out what the attacks are stemming from!. There is some situation or feeling you have that causes them, for me it was abandonment issues and when those were dealt with the attacks stopped!. You should consider talking to a therapist if it becomes too bad or you cant figure out yourself what is triggering them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

do you have any idea why these panic attacks started!? you say your mom had them, and they needed to be treated with medication!. unfortunately, sometimes we pass our illnesses on to our children!. you may have inherited this problem from your mom!. if this turns into a genuine problem, then you will have to go and see someone!. don't feel bad, a mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, and quite often panic attacks can be controlled with counselling!. i wish you luck on this problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did something happen a week ago that triggered this!? My suggestion is to try and find a therapist to talk to at least about what is going on!. Sometimes talking to someone alone can help, with the stress of what is going on in your life!. I know it sounds like a dumb obvious statement but we don't realize how much is really going on sometimes!. At that point maybe a therapist/counselor whoever may recommend you go see a psychiatrist!. Remember they work for you!. If you do not feel comftorable with them it is your choice!. Explain your feelings!. Explain your fears about your mothers "near addiction" problem!. There are many mediciations out there with non-addictive properties as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many meds can be used to treat anxiety and many are not addictive, or you can try therapy first!.

You are not living, get help, this may be a genetic problem, you can change a flat tire but you can't change your genes!.

Good luck! XXXWww@Answer-Health@Com
