Just CAN'T sleep!!!?!

Question: Just CAN'T sleep!!!!?
It's nearly 4 in the morning here, and I just can't sleep!. I have been this way for over 2 months now - every "night" i go to sleep at 4, and wake up at 10!. I would like to sleep earlier and wake up at around 8, but noppety noppety nope!. Have a very bad migraine at the mo, and I'm kind of depressed too - uni and personal life is sucking!. Also, I'm a tea addict, that might have something to do with this sleeping-like-an-owl pattern!?
Anybody can help this human get some regular sleep please!? She would greatly appreciate it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
make urself tired before going to bed or just in general!.!.!. start making urself get up at 8, that way you will most likely be tired enough to sleep a little earlier than 4!!.!. i find reading before bed or listening to my ipod helps me get to sleep!.!.!.!. it could also be your comfort though!.!.!. i change from one pillow to two pillows evry now and again, i know it's a bit strange, but it works! :) and you should probably avoid tea at least an hour before you go to bed cos it has caffiene which gives u energy, another thing is not to eat very close to bed time! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try some sub-lingual melatonin!. I've had sleep issues for YEARS!. I was on 20 mg on Ambien a night for 5 years, and then I became tolerant to that and every other sleeping drug out there!.

But I found that the sub-lingual form of melatonin REALLY helps (NOT the capsules or tablets that you swallow - those don't do anything for me)!. Melatonin is also safe because your pineal gland produces it naturally for circadian rhythms!. I will take 5 mg of melatonin when I'm trying to sleep, and it'll make me feel sleepy within 20 minutes, if I'm just chillin' and reading a book (watching TV isn't a good idea if you're trying to fall asleep)

Also, if you take B vitamins during the day that will help too!. B vitamins will also help with stress!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Avoid drinking tea at night, it excites your nerves and you won't be able to sleep!.!.!. It is better to drink chamomile tea, it is relaxing and you will sleep deeply after a few minutes!. Secondly, do physical exercises during the day so when night comes, you will get exhausted and go straight ahead to sleep!. Thirdly, when lying in bed, do some relaxation exercises: breathe in deeply, hold your breath some seconds before breathing out!. Do it without making any effort!. Reading is another good alternative to get sleepy!. Last but not least, pray to God, (if you are a believer, of course)!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Firstly go to your doctor to check that there is nothing else going on!. You might want to reduce your tea intake, especially as bedtime approaches!. Try your best to get up and go to sleep at the same time each night, so you give yourself a regular sleep pattern, and make sure your room is dark and quiet enough for you to sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi!. I have the same problem often!. 4!.40am now and I'm hoping to get some sleep sometime soon!.

You mention migraine and feeling depressed!. Sounds very similar to my experiences!. I find when I try to get to sleep I have too much going round in my head that I'm getting anxious about - I think this anxiety keeps me awake and leads to migraines which are also part caused by the bad sleep pattern - bit of a vicious circle!.

A couple of similar things I have found work well!. I have a couple of Paul McKenna cds - one to help you stop smoking one to deal with anxiety!. Whilst I dont know success rate of them actually curing these things through hypnosis, the sounds and what he says are excellent at getting you off to sleep !

The other thing is something my wife got me a couple years back and I think are quite easily found nowadays in places such as Boots - its a blackout headband (no idea what proper name is for it) - goes around head like a blindfold to keep light out and there's a tiny speaker one side that plays from a selection of about five soothing sounds (waves at beach, running stream, etc)!. I've found can be good for getting to sleep or at least relaxing me if I fail to nod off!.

Best of luck!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
