Answers:
How you feel is perfectly understandable!. When you are feeling depressed, even just mildy depressed you have to think of your own wellbeing first and help yourself first!.

Last Sunday I split up with my partner of two years and it wasn't my choice (we'd lived together for 18 months) and coming home from work was difficult!. Most nights I've spent out with friends and I certainly haven't wanted to be here why he was moving some of his possessions out!. As a result tonight is the first night I have been on Yahoo Answers all week and answered some questions!. I needed to do the nice, enjoyable and uplifting things in life - I wasn't up to answering questions!.

When I last came out of hospital 4 years ago, I really didn't have enough things to fill all my weekdays, so I thought I'd give the MIND Drop-In Centre a try!. Well, never again! Spending an afternoon with people who were more depressed and/or in really depressing situations just didn't help me one bit - I came out feeling 20+ times worse than when I went in!. Needless to say I never went to the Drop-In Centre again!.

It sounds like you really need a laugh, and the following was sent to me yesterday and had me in stitches!. Hope you find it funny but we are all different:-

This is genuine and was a complaint made to Devon & Cornwall Police Force from an angry member of the public -

Dear Sir/Madam/Automated telephone answering service
Having spent the past twenty minutes waiting for someone at Bodmin police station to pick up the telephone I have decided to abandom the idea and try emailing you instead!.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to pass this message onto your colleague's in Bodmin, by means of smoke signal, carrier pigeon or Ouiga Board!.

As I'm writing this email there are eleven failed medical experiments (I think you call them youths) in St!. Mary's Crescent, which is just off St!. Mary's Road in Bodmin!.

Six of them seem happy enough to play a game which involves kicking a football against an iron gate with the force of a meterorite!. This causes an earth shattering CLANG! which rings throughout the entire building!. This game is now in it's third week and as I am unsure how the scoring system works, I have no idea if it will end any time soon!.

The remaining five failed-abortions are happily rummaging through several bags of rubbish and items of furniture that someone has so thoughtfully dumped beside the wheelie bins!. One of them has found a saw and is setting about a discarded chair like a beaver on ecstasy pills!.

I fear it's only a matter of time before they turn their limited attention to the caravan gas bottle that is lying on its side between the two bins!. If they could be relied on to only blow their own arms and legs off then I would happily leave them to it!. I would even go so far as to lend them the matches!.

Unfortunately, they are far more likely to blow up half the stree with them, and I've just finished decorating the kitchen!.

What I suggest is this - after replying to this email with worthless assurances that the matter is being looked into and will be dealt with, why not leave it until the one night of the year (probably bath night) when there are no mutants around then drive up the street in a Panda car before doing a three point turn and disappearing again!. This will of course serve no other purpose than to remind us what policemen look like!.

I trust that when I take a claw hammer to the skull of one of these throwbacks you'll do me the same courtesy and give me a four month head start before coming to arrest me!.

I remain your obedient servant!. !?!?!?!?!?!?!?
!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

Mr !?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have read your email and understand your frustration at the problems caused by youths playing in the area, and the problems you have encountered in trying to contact the police!.

As the Community Beat Officer for your street I would like to extend an offer of discussing the matter fully with you!.

Should you wish to discuss the matter, please provide contact details and when may be suitable!.

Regards,
PC!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Dear PC !?!?!?!?!?!?

First of all I would like to thank you for the speedy response to my original email!.

16 hours and 38 minutes must be a personal record for Bodmin Police Station, and rest assured that I will forward these details to Norris McWhirter for inclusion in his next Guinness book!.

Secondly I was delighted to hear that our street has it's own Community Beat Officer!.

May I be the first to congratulate you on your cover skills!? In the five or so years I have lived in St!. Mary's Crescent, I have never seen you!. Do you hide up a tree or have you gone deep undercover and infiltrated the gang!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had problems with depression really bad, It was when I lost my son to crib death I totally lost it and I did get through it!. I did take medication to balance me back and my doctor recommend that I go for walks alone!. Like the other said try other sections because it will make you more depressed!. I know you can get through this whatever it is!. And I think it's good to talk on here rather than keeping it to yourself!. Good Luck and email if you need too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is very difficult to offer much advice so briefly but I was advised to try and LOOK FORWARD!.!.!.!.!. First of all to small things like taking a walk to the shops, cooking and eating something nice, watching something good on tv!. Then start LOOKING FORWARD to meeting a family member or close friend and things similar!. These are everyday things and nothing that you would necessarily be life changing but it really does make a difference to you outlook on getting through your day and WHO KNOWS WHAT!.!.!.!.!.!.good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Try sorting your own health out first hun, i know you want to help people in the same boat as you but seriously that's what doctors and councellors are for!.

You need to concentrate on getting yourself better first, then maybe share your experience afterwards if you feel you want to!.

Talk to your doctor about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Take care xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

going on forums can be good at first, cos you get to share experiences with people who understand you!. but theres the other side of the coin!. if youre reading about OCD all the time it can reinforce all the negative feelings you have towards OCD, which is not good in the long run

maybe you should stay off the forums and try to do something else!. have you tried cognitive behaviour therapy!? thats supposed to be good for treating OCD

I had a friend who was depressed and she decided to visit hospitals and speak to really sick and depressed patients!. But that only made her feel worse!.
So my advice is, do something nice for yourself!. Pamper yourself and you will feel good, and eventually you will be strong enough to help others!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're not offending anyone, don't worry!.
It's hard enough to cope yourself and try to help yourself when you have depression, when you feel depressed - go into a happier section :)

Have you been to the doctors about it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

relax and smile Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know how you feel!. I run a couple of groups about sleep disorders, and some days I am so tired and depressed that I just don't want to read all those emails!. So, when I get tired of it, I go outside and work in the garden!. Or, I at least go to a fun website, and watch some videos!. You have to try and redirect your thinking some days!. You are not alone, and it is very easy to feel that you are!. But, it does help to know that other people are going through a similar experience!. Some days I wake right up and start researching, and have a good day of helping people!. :o)
Are you comfortable talking with a friend or parents!? It really does help to let it out!.
Good luck to you, my dear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey,
well sorry if im wasting your time as i don't feel like this but it probably making you feel worse as your helping people to feel better and thinking that it will make you feel better but it just reminds you that you are feeling like it and of why you are feeling how you are feeling and whilst your helping others there's no one helping you which isnt going to help you and helping people does get tedious as u feel depended on and used and the routine probably dosn't help you either as you go through the same routine, same problems, same questions, same answers you get the same feeling

hope it helped

Your feelings for others is pulling you down, by constantly concentrating on the 'negatives' of everyones illness, and this is making you depressed!.

My advice is to choose another category for a change, or a while, until you can 'get stronger emotionally', as the answers you give will reflect on how YOU are feeling at the time, which isn't really giving any positive feedback to help the people you're writing to!.

Soon, you'll be getting those 10 points again for doing what you do best, helping others!.
