Where can I get good support for childhood abuse? UK specific?!

Question: Where can I get good support for childhood abuse!? UK specific!?
I feel ready to get support now, after 15 years of silence!.
I volunteer for a charity that could give me support, but I don't want to use their services!.
What is out there for me!? What would you recommend!?
I live in the Birmingham area, if that helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,

First I'd like to say you should be really proud of yourself for making the step to get professional help!. Im your age and have only recently sought medical help for depression linked to childhood abuse!.

I would advise you to go to your doctor and give him and brief outline about the situation like you have hear and say you would like support!. He'll be able to refer you to a counsellor or therapist, and give you details of any social support groups near to you specifically for abuse survivors!. Lots of therapists specialise in helping people to deal with childhood issues and to improve their lives now!.

Or you could always look in your Yellow Pages for counsellors but they may me quite costly and not any better than someone you can get through your GP!

Good luck and hope you feel better about things soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good on you for deciding to break your silence!. I hope you get the help you need!. Why not consult with a psychologist or psychotherapist in your area- you could easily get a referral from a doctor!. There are groups, but this can be daunting especially talking about it for the first time so I'd recommend one-on one therapyWww@Answer-Health@Com

start with your doctor and ask for specialist referal!. use the charity that
you help, that's what it for!.
if you are thinking of pressing charges against the perpetrator you
will also need to speak to the police!.
take one thing at a time , so off to the doctor, and book a double
appointment to have plenty of time!.
good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all give Childline a call (0800 1111), they're always so kind and ready to give help and advice!. They will take action if you are in physical danger!. Please, please call them, and well done for breaking the silence!.
Good luck, and sorry xWww@Answer-Health@Com
