Why is this happening? (sleep issues)?!

Question: Why is this happening!? (sleep issues)!?
I wake up so many times in the middle of the night!. At least 7!. I wake up and I feel so restless!. My muscles ache terribly and I can't seem to ever feel comfortable!. I wake up almost every other hour!.

I used to nap a lot (in college) but I can no longer take a nap!. Logically I'm pretty sure it's anxiety, but I am not even thinking about anything!.!.!.that is what I don't understand!. I hardly ever remember my dreams!. I am not overly stressed!. I am in graduate school but I manage my time well!.

What is going on!?!?

*I am also on anti-depressants!.!.!.but this has been going on for months!. I don't think it's related!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you are on anti-depressants and are also drinking a lot of "cups of Joe" (that is your screen name after all), both of those can affect your quality of sleep!. Used in combination they can magnify or detract from one another!. Go back to whomever prescribed the anti-depressants and report your symptoms, if you have not already done that!. If you are already doing so, and getting "pat" answers, get a second or third opinion!.

Sleep problems can also be medically related and not caused by the mind-altering drugs!. I have borderline apnea (my wife says more-than-borderline) and onset of that in middle-age apparently is very common!. I gather it is not good for your heart, among other things, and there are various treatments for it, that address breathing difficulties!. I know this issue well!. I still feel tired a lot of the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your competitive spirit keeps you going through grad school, and may be creating more stress than you think!. The university probably has a free counseling service!. Just talking to someone can make a big difference in how you feel, which will allow you to sleep better!.

The counselor can also recommend you see a physician if he or she believes your sleep challenges are physically based!.

maybe read the side effects of the anti depressant you are taking
maybe it does have to do with it
are you eating healthy
maybe something is bothering you, deep down inside
read on curezone!.com - a good siteWww@Answer-Health@Com

Why are you on anti depressants !? All they do is mask the problem!.
You say you're at Graduate School!. You are smart, You have two legs and arms, you have a roof over your head!. Go and visit a school for disabled kids and then maybe you will realize how lucky you are!.
The drugs could also play havoc with your system!. If you have been taking them for a while, do not stop just suddenly, speak to your doctor about weaning yourself off!.

If you are having issues, seek counselling, preferably psychotherapy which treats the mind body and soul!. They will help with sleep and the sore muscles!.

Also, it is important to relax before bed, no sugary foods, no caffeine, no hot chocolate!. No computer games or study at least two hours before bed!. Try a hot bath, a few drops of lavender on your pillow and a glass of warm milk and honey!. If you have an overactive mind at night, try to learn meditation to calm the mind!.

You may have also upset your body clock!. Go to bed a the same time and wake up at the same time!. Make sure your room is dark and quiet and no TV in the room!. Bedroom is for sleeping!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being a nurse and a social worked, my first suggestion to you would to be a visit to your doctor's office for a CBC lab review with particular attention paid to your thyroid results!. Your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) result will quickly advise your Dr!. whether or not you may need to be on medication!. If normal, perhaps you can discuss your current symptoms with him as physical causes for your complaints should always be ruled out FIRST!. Then you can move on to other avenues such as psychosocial causes!. Sometimes, we do not realize that we are under stress and certainly no one knows your particular circumstances!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
