Please please help! i need serious advice?!

Question: Please please help! i need serious advice!?
im 20 years old, and I have been on zoloft for 7 years(since age 13)!. I have been having terrible side effects, and have felt severly emotionally numb for the last 1-2 years!. I discussed withdrawaling with my doctor!. She recommended going from 100mg down to 75!. I cut the dosage down 4 weeks ago!.

im still having withdrawals, and my mind is VERY foggy!. I have a hard time finding words, and recalling events!. My mind is terrible, and there is constant ringing in my ears, and wierd physically feeling with my brain!.

What surprised me is how little doctors know about withdrawal!. It my belief that I can may develop Post Acute withdrawal syndrome(Paw)!. My mind in the last couple of year is not what it used to be, and now is seemingly worse!.

doctors often dismiss withdrawal difficulties as the underlying problem comming back, but I am sure that this is NOT the case!.

How do I convince my doctor to help me!. Im SO afraid that my mind will not go back to normal!.

I want to live life to the fullest, have a family, good job, and be able to think clearly, but that is less likely if my mind is disabled!.

PAW rarely occurs, but I have seen evidence from where I tapered down in the past and my mind has not really came back!.

What do I do!?

There is little reasearch on the long term saftey of the drug!.

there are so many symptoms of this withdrawal that I can List them all

Answers:
i also have severe emotional numbness after being off an antidepressant (celexa), and this has persisted for many years!. i also have memory problems!.

Unfortunately, the zoloft may be to blame, but your doc may not admit it because that exposes him/her to possible legal action!. You may be hard-pressed to find a doctor who will be completely honest with you about this issue!.

Google "SSRI's" and P!.A!.N!.E!.S!. (persistent adverse neurological effects after stopping medication) and "SSRI's" / "withdrawal"!. There is a wealth of anecdotal 'evidence' that you are not alone!. But people in the medical profession tend to discount anecdotal evidence, claiming that is not real!. Only they don't tell us that there have been no long term studies done on these drugs!. In fact, there is active suppression of long-term studies from the pharmaceutical companies!.

Just so that you get a balanced answer here - not all people have had trouble with medication, just telling you I have, and many other people have!. There are some books you might be interested in, namely Your Drug May Be Your Problem and Toxic Psychiatry - or google Glenmullin and Breggin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Regular doctors often do not have expertise in psychiatric conditions or medications!. You need to see a qualified psychiatrist!. If you already are, you might want to change, since he doesn't seem to be helping you!.

Are you reporting the symptoms regularly as they occur!? There may be something he can do to ease the side effects until you are off the med!. The symptoms you are describing are serious, and you really need someone who will take them seriously!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to hook up with a good nutritionist and holistic doctor!.
The problem most likely is dietary and you should not be on meds for that long a period of time!. You need to find a professional to help you get off that garbage as soon as possible!.
Go to webmd!.com or livestrong!.comWww@Answer-Health@Com

You poor thing!. I am disgusted that your parents put you on this at such young age!. It is deplorable!. God knows what its done to your developing brain all these years!. The good news is that latest evidence is that the brain can redefine itself!. I beleive in alternative therapy!. I would visit a reputable chinese herbalist/acupuncuturist!.

I also think you need to find a doctor who will listen to you and help you!. Eastern and Western medicine can work together!.

At least you are trying to get off those drugs!.

Good luck!.

I also think you need a good hug to show that you are loved!. You are special!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
