Therapy for depression ?!


Question: Therapy for depression !?
I am in my 50's and I am attending therapy sessions for the past few weeks , I did all the talking for the first 7 sessions telling my life story the ups & downs etc !. At my last session the therapist based on what i had told him !. actually was very critical of me for not giving the party host ( i was invited to a party and didnt go because i was not feeling up to it ) more than a half days notice , , and that behaviour was unacceptable , to cut a long story ahort , based on what I had told him in previous sessions said that i am not taking responsibility for anything etc , I ran home from another country when i was 16 , that i never learned to drive , i dont take charge of the running of the house ( actually I do it is 50 % each , and that i have never grown up ,!. I have reared 4 children all eduacated and have good jobs , i have done the best i can , i am friendly and a generous person , but i am very hurt by the therapist comments , have they the right to throw back at you what you have told the in earlier sessions , i thought i was getting help not verbal abuse !. and paying good money for it !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I recommend it, even though it covers more than depression!.

Types of therapy
Several kinds of therapy are used to treat depression:

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help you identify and change the thought and behavior patterns that contribute to depression!. People who are depressed tend to think negatively, and cognitive behavioral therapy teaches you how to identify and challenge the negative thoughts!. This approach is usually done in short-term therapy, and has been found to be particularly helpful for depression!.

Interpersonal therapy looks at how depression can be connected to troubled emotional relationships!. Like cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy tends to be a short-term therapy, and has been proven to work well with depression!.

Psychodynamic therapy links depression to traumas and conflicts that happened earlier in your life, especially during childhood!. It can be a short-term treatment, although it is often a longer process!.

Group therapy allows you and other people with depression
