Question: Does depression medication actually work!?
I am looking to get help with my depression!. I am just wondering if medication actually works, or is there no hope for me!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It works better with therapy!. Without therapy my psychologist said that the medication does very little!.
Good luck!. I too am struggling with depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely it works!. There are dozens of antidepressants though, and not every medication works for every person!. For plain old, run of the mill depression, standard SSRIs have about a 60-70% success rate!. For atypical/psychotic/resistance depression, it's much lower - they tend not to be so effective!. Older, stronger medications work better in these cases!.

As always, combination of antidepressants and therapy has the best success rate!. And there's always hope - the clinical data is VERY clear about this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many people find that medication clears up all their symptoms, and many people find therapy cures them, and the best results for most people have been a combo of meds, exercise and therapy!.
It truly depends on why you are depressed, and most of the time people don't know the full reason why they are, which is why the combo of all three works!.

Of course, exercise and nutritional eating has done the most for me, but I am far far away from being cured and still struggle every day with my problems!. Therapy has helped with the panic attacks but not the depression or other anxiety symptoms!. Medication has helped with the depression but not the anxiety and sleep problems lol!. Really depends on each individual person!.

Good luck :-)!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Give it a good 6 weeks or so to start helping and counseling in conjunction with medication does wonders!. Medication does not "solve" all your problems, you will still have problems because that's just the way the world works, but you will feel as if you will be able to cope with them better!. Please talk to your doctor and once medication is prescribed (if that's what the doctor feels you need) continue to go in for checkups and let him know how you are feeling!. Do NOT stop taking the medications though, wean yourself off gradually with your doctors help!. I have dealt with depression on and off my entire life!. I will tell you one thing that also helps me !.!.!. write in a journal or dive into a hobby that you really enjoy !.!.!. writing, singing, art, etc!. Do something for YOU! Good luck to you!. I will be praying for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Zoloft has helped me alot!. It not only helps with the depression but also helps with anxiety!. I have stayed on 50 mgs for a couple of months, these meds have side effects and I think the lowest dose that works for you is important!. People often times increase the dose thinking if a little is good more must be better!. A little helps and too much can cause worse problems, if you start on an anti depressant go slowly!. Zoloft has done wonders for me!. There is hope for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
