Or is it only psychiatrists that can do that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, they can, but they are often uncomfortable doing so and may refer you to a psychiatrist!. They have a better knowledge of psychiatric medications, and will know to a larger extent the effects any such medication will have on you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Regular doctors can write prescriptions for mental disorders!. However, psychiatrists can much more experience in diagnosing and prescribing psychiatric meds!. In some parts of the US, there are specialists called psychopharmacologists, who have done the most research and have the greatest experience with psych meds!. If a person has a mental disorder that is really interfering with their daily life, they should try to see a psychopharmacologist, or at least a psychiatrist!.

The situation is very much like any other health issue!. If you have a problem with high blood pressure, your regular doctor can prescribe medication!. However, if it is a more serious heart disorder, your doctor will probably refer you to a cardiologist who specializes in treating heart conditions!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there!. I have been in that same situation and I can tell you from experience!. My regular doctor was in control of my conditions and wrote me scripts until they had to add more to my "medication cocktail"!. Once you start mixing different meds it becomes more complicated, then they refer you to a psychiatrist!. Hope I was able to help!. Good luck!. Blessings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
