hey there!.!.!.having known people who have suffered from this, and having suffered myself at the level you are at and worse!---I feel I can help based on my trial and error experience!.!.!.

Firstly, I would NOT resort to any drugs that the doctor may try to prescribe you UNLESS you are suicidal or absolutely in need!. Reason is that it won't solve your problem, it may help take "edge" off but it also replaces it with a kind of emotionally numbness over time!. Don't get me wrong, it can be useful if used in ADDITION with a therapist to find out the source of your stress and stopped after no more than 3 months - is best!

Understanding what/how/ etc, about anxiety disorders can be helpful too!.!.educating yourself make you better at helping yourself!.

Behavioral Cognitive therapy is a GREAT place to start!. go for that!.!.it will retrain your breathing which is not as normal as it could be because you are focusing on it, obsessing!.!.it's a vicious circle you must break!.!.this is a good place to start!. I am speaking from experience too about the breathing thing!.

I would be a bit leery of doctors for some are not educated in this area, give bad advice, or just want to make money!.!.this is why it's important to help educate yourself as much as possible!.

don't worry, you will not die, but you do need to get started in treating yourself, and one thing even the experts don't address is treat all of yourself!. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (this will educate you, help regulate your breathing and heart rate, and help you change your way of thinking--which got you to where you are with anxiety out of proportion)!. Also, take acupuncture and or massage to keep signaling the body to relax which helps the thinking stay calm!. The body speaks to the mind and it responds and the mind speaks to the body and it listens too!.!.!.see why you must address both!?!? to break the vicious cycle!.

hope this helps! email me if you need any help!.!.!. i am here to help you!.!.i know how absolutely terrifying this disorder can be and i hope no one has to recover alone as i did!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You fear a heart attack and I fear vomiting!. Sounds to me though that heart attack is just a cover for what is really going on e!.g: Stepmother!. If you live in a high stress environment the anxiety does hang around!. No one has ever died from anxiety and panic, that is a scientific fact and anxiety is always a cover for deeper emotions yet to be expressed!. Seeing a psychiatrist will be great coz you can tell him or her all this and they always take your side, they also open your mind to new ideas and ways of thinking and that alleviates your anxiety!. Medication is great coz that too will calm your breathing down!. A tip is to breath in for 4 and count in your head then hold for 2 and out through your nose for 4 and hold for 2!. This will bring your breathing back to normal and will become a great friend!. You should also know that your eart can beat up to 200BPM even more and you will still not have a heart attack and anxiety can only bring your heart to around 130!. So try the doctors and if you dont like ppl tell them!. Better you get it out than channel it into your anxiety!. Spoken from a girl who has had panic and anxiety for 31 years!. Anxiety disorder is a blanket term covering several different forms of abnormal, pathological anxieties, fears, and phobias!.

In clinical usage, "fear", "anxiety" and "phobia" have distinct meanings, though the words are often used interchangeably in casual discourse to describe ubiquitous emotions!. Clinically, a phobia is defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition (DSM-IV-TR) as a "persistent or irrational fear!." Clinically, fear is defined as an emotional and physiological response to a recognized external threat!. Anxiety is an unpleasant emotional state, the sources of which are less readily identified!. Distinguishing among different anxiety disorders is important, since accurate diagnosis is more likely to result in effective treatment and a better prognosis!. Surveys have shown as many as 30% of Americans may be affected by anxiety disorders!.[1]

Anxiety disorders are frequently accompanied by physiological symptoms that may lead to fatigue or even exhaustion!. Clinical depression is frequently comorbid with anxiety disorders!.

The choices of treatment include psychotherapy (such as cognitive behavioral therapy); lifestyle changes; or pharmaceutical therapy (medications)!. Mainstream treatment for anxiety consists of the prescription of anxiolytic agents or antidepressants or referral to a psychologist!. Treatment controversy arises because some studies indicate that a combination of the medications and behavioral therapy can be more effective than either one alone; however, others studies suggest pharmacological interventions are largely just palliative, and can actually interfere with the mechanisms of successful therapy!.[12]

Meta-analysis indicates that psychotherapeutic interventions have superior long-term efficacy when compared to pharmacotherapy!.[13] The right treatment may depend very much on the individual's genetics and environmental factors!. Therefore it is important to work closely with a psychologist and medication provider who is familiar with anxiety disorders and current treatments!.

A number of drugs can be prescribed to treat these disorders!. These include benzodiazepines (such as Xanax), antidepressants of most of the main classes (SSRI, TCAs, MAOIs), and possibly Quetiapine!.
