Answers:
Avoid counselors with degrees like MSW, LCSW, LPC!. These degrees can be gotten in just 1 or 2 years and the curriculum is very weak!. These degrees can be provided by less reputable colleges and often have easy admissions requirements!.

The best degree is a PhD in clinical psychology!. These degrees are as difficult to get as medical school degrees!. If your therapist has this degree you know they are intelligent and have a lot of training!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How do I know how to choose a good therapist!? I ask around and/or look in the phone book!. I ask the therapist in person what their specialty is and if they think they could help me - or if they know of someone who might help me better (for example - an addiction's therapist may not work as well with sexually abused people; an anorexic therapist may not works very well with someone going thru a divorce)!. Some of these therapists are very talented and can work with all types of issues!.!.!.!.whereas as some are more of an expert in one or two areas!. Good Luck!.

I've had several different therapists over the years and they all help me in their own special wayWww@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely steer clear of people with social work or sociology degrees!. This is the field of study that football players often major in because it is impossible to fail and it is not a challenging field of study!.

Clinical Psychologists with Ph!.Ds are highly regarded and rightfully so because they have to be stellar students and are engaged in a demanding curriculum with serious field work!. Granted not all clinical psychologists will have the desired people skills but start there and interview a few to find one that fits your needs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I firmly agree with the other posters!. I would steer my patients towards qualified psychiatrists (MD degree) or phd level clinical psychologists!. All others are of questionable credentials and could do more harm than good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
