How do you end therapy? ?!

Question: How do you end therapy!? !?
I've been in therapy for abt a year!. Got a lot of great things out of it but now I feel like it's not doing much good!. My therapist is great except for one minor thing!. She talks about her other patients problems (she doesn't use names, just talks abt their issues)!. At first, I found it interesting but then realized that we weren't talking about me and my issues!. We spent so much time talking about her other patients!.

I want to stop seeing her but don't quite know what to say!. Anyone have any ideas!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Make some notes to take with you, using some main points or issues!.
Let your therapist know that you feel you have devoted enough time and money for now - working on the issues in your life!.
Let her know you are not feeling "stuck" or "weak" anymore, that your "strength is growing" as well as your confidence in your own abilities to manage your daily responsibilities and relationships!.
Let her know that you will come 1 or 2 more times, to "wrap-up" and say your parting words to each other!.

Leaving the therapy at this point is actually a point of strength within you, and a sign that it has been helpful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tricky issue!. I can relate!. Trouble is, after a year like that, you and the therapist have developed a kind of mutual dependence!. She depends on you for someone to confide in about her other patients (very unprofessional on her part)!. It's a bit like breaking off a friendship or a love affair!.

Basically a year is too long for such a relationship to continue!. You need to bite the bullet and pull the plug!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Counselors use this technique to point something out to you that you are not seeing by using an example of someone else to make you think!. But if it's been a year and you think you are no longer getting anything from it than move on, just be honest and say that you feel really to move forward and thank them for the time they have worked with you!. A professional will understand!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just do not setup another appointment!. You are paying her to help you, if she is not helping anymore it is time to move on!. If you feel that you have come to a workable solution to you reason for going to her again move on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ask to cut back your appts!. to every three months or so and gradually taper off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
