theres a saying about seroquel in reference to its notroious weight gain effect that goes 'you'll gain five pounds just by filling the rx'!. ba-da-bum!

i take seroquel and have gained over 10 pounds since starting it in june!.

id say the weight loss is probably due more to the fact that youve stopped the seroquel rather than the cymbalta!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I just started taking fluoxetine 20 mg a day, and my appetite has tailed into almost nothing!. A plateful I'd have ravaged and ravished gleefully before I struggle to get half way through :(

Bare in mind, I am HUGE on food!. It's rare that anything puts me off food, so yeah, they do have an effect!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, psychotropics are a main cause of weight gain and in rare people weight lose!. That is one of the reasons that most don't want to take them they don't want to deal with the weight gain and it's one of the most common of the side effects!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely!. Paxil KILLED my metabolism and I gained 30 lbs in three months!. Seriously!. I'm now on Pristiq and working hard to get the weight off, but it certainly isn't coming off as fast as it packed on! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Psyche meds can affect your weight so bad! Did you just stop taking the Seroquel!? If so the weight loss may be from that!. That is an evil medication when it comes to weight gain!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes i put on 2 stone!.!.!.i had to come off them i'd rather be thin and mad then fat and doped up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

To answer your question, weight gain or loss is often common with treatment for depression/anxiety/bipolar, etc!.

It's quite logical if you stop and think of it!. The depression is caused by an imbalance of hormones (serotonin and others!.!.!.) in your brain, therefore any medication that is given to treat mental illnesses will have affects on your metabolism!. And they don't just affect the weight "thing", the have affects on all areas of your body (cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, dermatological, musculoskeletal, nervous system, respiratory system, senses such as vision/taste/perversion, urogenital system!.!.!.)

When you think of it, the brain is the "core" of all information "sent out" to your body!. Especially when you talk about hormones, your brain secrets allot of different kinds! Some that control your reproductive system of course but, also some that are responsible for your sleep, your energy, your appetite, your development, etc!. The brain is so complex, medicine still does not understand exactly how everything works! It is said that we use less than 11% of our brain capacities!

So in reference to your question, yes medecin affects us 100% but how!.!.!.that is still not all known!. Some medication affect more areas than others and have more side effects!. It's normal for your body to produce side effects when new medication is introduced because it's your body's natural defence system!. To know if a medication is tolerated by your body, most side effects should go away after 2 to 3 weeks of taking it!.

As doctors will often say: you have to weigh the good and the bad, and figure out what's best for you!. If your depression is lessened but you've put on weight that brings you down!.!.!.well that's counter active if you want my advice!. But then again, if having a bit more weight means you won't be suicidal and hurt yourself,!.!.!.well that's another story!.

I hope I've cleared things a bit more for you and helped!.

Good luck and keep strong ;) Www@Answer-Health@Com
