Alprazolam for panic attacks?!

Question: Alprazolam for panic attacks!?
I have had panic attacks almost my entire life, I started getting them in early high school!. This past year (I am now 22) they got a lot worse, making it hard for me to do even the simplest of tasks (writing a check, going to the bank, ordering food, etc!.) so I went to the doctor and told her I did NOT want to take something every day because I don't like taking medication, but I would like to take something when I feel panic setting in!. She prescribed me Alprazolam (basically Xanax)!. In addition to the medicine, (which I only plan to use short term) I am also going to begin psychotherapy to get to the root cause of the anxiety!.

What are your experiences with this medication!? How does it make you feel!? How quickly does it work!? What were the major side effects!? Thank you in advance!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on it for a while and it was a life saver for me!. I didn't have any adverse side effects!. It kicks in after about 15-20 minutes!. It can be addicting and the more you use it, the effects are diminished!. (Leading you to need a higher dose to control the anxiety!.)

The standard starting dose is 0!.25 mg!. After a couple of months of taking it, you may notice that it doesn't help as much as it did in the beginning!. Then they usually bump you up to 0!.5 mg!.

The key thing is to only take it when you really need to!. When you take it this way, it reduces your chances of being addicted to it (relying on it!.) The word "addictive" is a little bit misleading!. When referring to the use of Alprazolam, it isn't like a crack or cocaine addiction!. It is just that the smaller dose doesn't work as well anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on lorazapam for awhile!. All it did was make me sleep!. It didn't make my anxiety any better!. I don't think that it did anything for me!. I'm currently on xanax for panic attacks but, I don't have constant anxiety!. So, it helps when I need it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have taken it before and it had little effect on me yet I was taking the lowest strength possible!.

I now take Effexor XR 150 mg and I have not had a panic attack since I started taking it!. No side effects, works like a charm!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It works really well almost too well!. It is very easy to get dependent on!. Major side effect is sleepiness!. It works really quickly you will be amazed!. It really helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It made me tired and kinda nauseous!. It works pretty fast!. You have to be very VERY careful because you can get easily addicted to Xanax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc!.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc!.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level!.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication!. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac!. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings!. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac!. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc!.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced!.!.!. you have that "learned behavior" in your mind!. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this!. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction!.!.!. There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to!.!.!.!.
