I think the Pharmacological companies are making sure real permanent cures don't ever happen, for if that happened, they stand to lose billions of dollars from the drugs being taken by autistic s and schizoids!.
I feel the insurance companies are also encouraging so-called 'autistic culture' along with the greedy for-profit HMOs, whom just don't want to doll out real treatments and/or cures if and when they finally do come out!.

Keep in mind that a drug company stops making good money off anything the invent after 7-10 years depending on the nature!. Anyone with decent manufacturing practices can copy their work!.
Also, keep in mind how much freaking money a company would make - the insurance companies would love it if they could get rid of chronic illnesses (as then they don't have to pay to treat them)!. Hell, the government would probably pay for it!.
And to be honest, how would they go about doing this!? Your average study on a drug involves several hundred people actually working on it, nevermind all the people who work indirectly to support it!. For drug development, there's 50 companies around me, all startups scanning chemicals as fast as they can possibly can looking for something, anything that might be used to hit any system in the body that we know exists!.
Honestly, I don't think people realize the rabid, frenzied level of competition in the pharmaceutical industry!. Everyone wants to be the one to grab the next brilliant molecule that lets his manipulate something else, some new way to get at some other system in the body!.
Keep in mind that autism, schizophrenia, these are NOT simple problems!. These affect massive swathes of the body's function in the brain, in metabolism!. They're rooted down deep in the parts of the body we still do not understand very well at all!. We don't even know what actually causes them quite yet, or how they develop or why!. All we know are vague genetic components, risk factors, the end results and some crude treatments that can prevent these conditions from being as terrible as they are otherwise!. A friend of my family worked for 5 solid years on an AIDS vaccine!.!.!. only to have it not work!. The pharmaceutical company spent millions to try and find a cure, and when that one didn't' work, they started all over again!.
Not saying pharmaceutical co's have our best interests at heart!. But I don't think they are doing nothing!.!.!.Think of how much money the company who finds a vaccine for AIDS will make - I mean, an HPV vaccine that has no long term studies (sorry, I'm unimpressed with their current research) and only prevents 4 types of HPV is worth $370 per person!.!.!.!.!.
You also have to realize their limitations!. Autism might NOT be curable (I'm thinking like, Downs Syndrome, where it's a gene replication or something we can't vaccinate against) - we're not even sure how it happens let alone how to fix it!.!.!.!. they need to do A LOT of research before they can just magically cure it!. This is just propaganda and conspiracy theories!. If someone could come up with a real cure for things like autism, they'd be a billionaire and a hero!. Michael Moore's films don't take an honest look at anything!. They simply push his agenda (and make him millions of dollars in the process)!.

That takes retroviruses, which are very experimental at best right now!. Plus, that kind of thing could do more harm than good!.
Other diseases like cancer could theoretically be cured since it's a matter of destroying cells gone bad!. However the drug companies are working hard to do so, and making money in the process!.
