Can I combine my antidepressant medication?!

Question: Can I combine my antidepressant medication!?
No, it's not as bad as it sounds!. ;P

Well, I'm on 20 mg prozac right now, but I only have three days left!. I need 5 extra days before my next psychiatrist visit!. I still have a lot of 10mg prozac left so I'm wondering if I can just take two 10mg prozacs!.

Does it work that way!? two 10mg=20mg prozac

I don't want to call for a refill because I don't want to waste another $5 for extra medication(that I will only use 5 pills out of the whole bottle) when I just need to hold out for 5 more days!. I don't have a job, my social anxiety makes it hard for me to get one!. My parents don't support me and my "crazy pills" so I don't want to waste too much of their money on the medication!. If I hold out for five days, I will have saved them $5!. =D

So, can I take two 10mg to make it a 20mg prozac!? or does it not work that way!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:

I hope your parents one day realized how depression and anxiety are real illnesses and not attitude problems and be more supportive morally and financially!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes I do this all the time I just add it up so if I had 5mg pills I would take 4 if I had to take 20 miligrams!. I am really sorry that your family dont understand because half the battle with mental ilness is having family who are able to understand !. Do you have a good counsellor - can they talk with your folks or could you give them some reading material on your illness!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes you can do that I take a medication to and I had some 12!.5 left when I was suppose to take 25 so I took two , my doctor okayed it , it adds up to the same !.!.I call them "crazy pills " too , 5 bucks is nothing mine cost over sixety dollars Www@Answer-Health@Com

It does work that way!. I am prescribed the same 20mg prozac, and I have to take 2 everyday b/c each pill is only 10mg!.
Please consult your doc if you are still worried though!.
But I promise taking two of the 10mg will not do any harm-- it is exactly the same as the 20mg!!
Peace!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you can i have done it many many many times and was told by my doctor its 100% ok but don't get me wrong not all medications you can do that with!. but that one is A-okWww@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely!. Two 10mg pills is the same thing as taking one 20mg pill!. If you don't believe me call your doctor or pharmacist and ask them!. They will tell you it is fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like, if your on 20mg of prozac then taking two 10mg tabs of prozac should be fine!. I would call up your doc before taking me at my word though!. I doesn't hurt to ask your doctor, they will always be brutally honest!.

YES

thats a perfectly fine thing to do, but you're parents not wanting to acknowledge you being on medication is quite wrong and selfish!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah go ahead !.!.!. It won't hurt you just this once!.!. Seriously I used to take Prozac and I did the same thing!. !.
Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is the same thing!.!. two 10mg pills = one 20mg pillWww@Answer-Health@Com

Two items: one directly related to this question, and one point that has to be made!.

Directly related to this question: if your 10mg pills ARE NOT EXPIRED then you should be okay!. Check to make sure that they're still in date!.

One point that I haven't seen covered: what to do when you need to go the "other way" - e!.g!. splitting 1 20mg pill into 2 10mg pills!.

It's important to cover this, and we have a reasonable venue here!. DO NOT "split" larger pills into smaller ones, especially if they're marked "CR" or another designator for "controlled-release"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

wow, u really are desperate for attention!

why dont u just take 1 pill for 5 days or will the horror of the real world get to much!?
or do the mature thing and ring your doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com
