I don't know about risperdal, so I will focus on lithium (duh)!. I've been taking it for about five years now!. I haven't had any problems with side effects except for one!. The shakes aka the tremors!. They make it difficult to write, hold corn on a fork, hell hold anything steady!. I take propranolol for the shakes but there's still some!. For mania, lithium seems to be working!. No episodes since 2002!. That mania lasted a full year and damn near killed me!. But, I miss the old mania!. Think I'll give it another try!. Lithium is old, reliable, effective, and has unpleasant side effects!. Risperdal, however, is like heavy artillery!. It's an atypical antipsychotic, the kind of stuff given to schizophrenics to keep them from hearing voices!. Sometimes it causes serious weight gain!. I'd choose lithium before Risperdal, but you can't know which will work or how well unless you try them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
